Hi everyone.
Just wondering what all exchanges you all use if you're UK or Ireland based?
I would like to see a system where i could exchange ukash or other money vouchers (that are available in your local shop i.e a pay point) for BTC, im just waiting to get verified by a few sites that may do this.
mercabit seems interesting intersango seems like they dont take UK deposits at the minute mtgox requires alot of verification, hopefully it wont take too long

I ended up using Mt Gox, simple because those who gave me the impression were more demographically ideal for UK users were having problems at the time, still are. I've seen too many times when exchanges have collapsed at the first sign of problems to know it's not good to trust them.
Not had any problems with Mt Gox, then again I understand why they have to be a pain with these requests for information and documents. It's not a bitcoin thing, it's because they intersect still with the traditional banking system that requires these.
If you want to keep your ID to yourself you might want to consider quietly putting the word out that you want to do some trades among individuals. There are quite a few UK bitcoiners in the same boat on both sides of the trading ... BTC <-> GBP

It's not a bitcoin thing, it's because they intersect still with the traditional banking system that requires these. I totally get that, if its because they are still symbiotic with the regular bank system then i can deal with it. Ive taken a look at quite a few markets and you're right, id say the forums here would be the best place, so once i get some rep up and find my way out of the noob section ill be golden. Have you ever used bitcoinnordic i think it is? you can fund a CashU account with ukash which you can then use to buy BTC apparantly I really like the look of mercabit, seems like a great idea. Thanks Lethos, ill use the forums no doubt.

It says you can still deposit using euros through their polish bank or also you can still send GBP via their japanese banking branch. Im assuming this is not the free service that was offered before in regards to the GBP, i think a fee applies to this as its classed as an international wire transfer?

Yes, different fees apply, so right now I am rather annoyed at the situation.

This is so irritating finally got my account validated after the Intersango debacle and now MtGox can't take GBP deposits through Barclays!
What I don't understand is how I can use a SEPA transfer to their polish bank?
It doesn't give me the option on their site to do that and I don't have a polish account, does this mean i have to use International Wire transfer?
That is going to cost me £25 plus £8 for their fees plus 2.5% to convert so altogether that is about £40 per deposit which is quite a lot!

Not sure what they are charging but not all UK banks are on the list including mine.
With Intersango and now MtGox suspending UK deposits, it has pretty much brought the process of acquiring Bitcoins in the UK to a halt unless you are willing to pay some very high fees. Talking to some sellers in the UK and they also said that sales have almost stopped since no one can get Bitcoins easily in the UK. Not a good situation right now!

I'm going to try the barclays "pingit" with https://blockchain.info/You need a smartphone though for the app, it's basically just sending money directly like you normally would to Mt.Gox on the barclays website, except you use this phone app..there's no extra fees either. Won't have the cash for it until next week though so if someone else wants to try it and report back.. I tested it by sending a a tiny amount of bitcoins to my blockchain account and then back, worked fine.. good enough for me. Hi xxxxx, My understanding is that the problem with MTGOX and Intersango is caused by a technical issue on Barkley's side. They are currently working on solving the issue. I don't anticipate any additional problem with Blockchain's Pingit offering. I hope that information helps, Roger Paiz Blockchain Help help@blockchain.info

I hadnt realised that Mt Gox had stopped UK deposits also. Is there any online wallet (moneybookers for example) that can be used?
