For now is not necessary better. I mean the fees are smaller but it will be better after people start to recognize it. Not everyone recognize bitcoin

Western union charges high but they take responsibility even if something goes wrong and the money hasn't got credited, also technologically lacking people too can use bitcoin unlike our bitcoin.

Fort sure it WAS better than Western Union, now with the outrageous fees that Bitcoin recently has, I am not so sure any more... Well, let's say that I'd still prefer Bitcoin over Western Union to transfer money, but I hope Bitcoin won't go further on the way of unusability, otherwise Western Union will end up winning this comparison.

Bitcoin is not so good as Western union and also it can't be cause of popularity and also western union trusted. Bitcoin is good for transactions but can't compete western union anyway.

Between WU and Bitcoin, it is Bitcoin even when the fees were at their highest point. It's just such a massive ripoff, unbelievable.

woah  Shocked this post was way back 2015 and it is good to see that most of these users are now high-ranked. Hero and Legendary
going to the question, Western union or other similar services usually take 1–5% for a transfer of money while by Bitcoin the usual transaction fee is a couple of cents and you can even pay less if you’re not in a hurry. so I think bitcoin transfer is better

Bitcoin pass western union is really surprising but i think since bitcoin start it has the potential to surpass WU, WU has a 3rd party in every transaction unlike bitcoin that it is a peer to peer transaction there is no 3rd parties in every transaction you make. But i don't think that it is this soon that bitcoin will surpass WU. But it's okay as long as bitcoin is doing good and we are profiting from it.  Smiley

Yes WU you put money or gold in and you got money or gold out minus fees

Here you put money in and you get tokens out so "massive ripoff, unbelievable" and that just for sending 250 bytes of electronic
data and we know Bitcoin will always be around because today you can walk into any flower shop and still buy a Tulip

Bitcoin is really better than western union because you don't need to stand in queue just to to be serve by the attendant. We can do the transaction at the comfort of our home. So it is saving us time and we can attend to our other investments and chores.

You cannot really compare Bitcoin with Western Union, they are too different, they basically have nothing in common except the possibility of transferring value. But Bitcoin has ended up BEING the value, Western Union just transfers value.

Bitcoin is a lot better than Western Union because of several reasons. Bitcoin does not require anymore a centralize system or a middleman to process everything because any transfer can be done direct or straight to the receiver as well as payments can be sent directly to the merchants anytime. It is time efficient and cost efficient also plus the fact that you are sending money from your hard work.

Probably it is better to check how much are current bitcoin fees.

For a WU transfer of 1000EUR between an EU countries towards China or Canada is in the 2-3% area. If you send lower amount, the overall fee is in the 5-7% area

Current fees on bitcoin transfer are higher than WU ones. Probably only for transfer over 5k € bitcoin costs less than WU

Who are you transferring btc with? "a couple of cents".
You may get someone new to buy in with that story but, the txn fees are astronomical and you know it.

I'm not that familiar with how Western Union works but I'd like to give them both props for providing services which are easily available in the market. I love how Bitcoin is decentralized. However, it would be much better if Western Union will integrate the blockchain on its system and see from there how this fintech would improve their already good service.

It is obviously that bitcoin surpassed the western union already. In fact, if you are going to check the charge for every transaction bitcoin was  very low cost of charge while in western is vice versa. when it comes for security, it is very safe and secured because we are the one who hold our own private key and the password and many more.
