Hello, Everyone,

We'd like to introduce you to the Ammbr project. Ammbr is a wireless mesh network built on blockchain technology, with the intent of bandwidth being traded in an autonomous market.

We are going to start off with a link to our white paper: http://ammbr.com/download/whitepaper

We have been flying under the radar for awhile now, with our first hardware prototype now a reality, we feel that it is time to become a bit more public with our project. While our project is still in the early stages of development, we have made a number of strides in realizing the goal of an inexpensive, flexible, highly configurable and robust mesh router intended for not only established markets but also for emerging markets. One of the key goals of our project is bringing connectivity to areas that have limited or no connectivity now. Not through grand projects by major companies, who control the ingress and egress of data, but through an organic, democratic, incentivized system that harnesses the power and in fact empowers the individual.

Hardware is only one key to the puzzle of solving the problem, however. We are more focused on the software platform, with the hardware side intended to be as inexpensive and accessible as possible. We are working on the software side to provide an end to end solution to deploying bandwidth on a massive scale through mesh technology. While we have many great minds in our organization, tackling many problems, it can never hurt to have more. Whether that's through the submission of code, sharing of ideas, flaw/bug identification, or even critiques of existing systems. We welcome all types of input and contributions to making this project a reality.

We could put up some flashy graphics here, or try to wow everyone with a bunch of irrelevant information people gloss over when they are reading about new projects, but we think it's better if we just get to the meat of the subject. Our whitepaper is linked above and has tons of relevant information about the projects, the hardware, the software and our organization. Please read that, and then head back here where we can get into an actual discussion of the project and moving forward to make it a reality.

Our chip design will be open source licensed and the security schema is rooted in individually controlled keys of node owners. We intend that the chip design can also benefit from the scrutiny of the community to ensure resilience. Any hardware developer that wishes to embed the blockchain functionality in their devices will be able to acquire chips from the Ammbr Foundation’s approved chip manufacturers or are free to develop their own.

We look forward to any questions, comments, suggestions, or ideas anyone might have.

Introducing the Ammbr Foundation Bounty Programme

Our programme works a little differently compared to other token sale bounty programmes, but the objective is the same – to reward you for driving traffic to the Ammbr Token Sale and creating awareness about the project.

The number of tokens distributed in the bounty programme will vary depending on the success of the token sale. There will be a minimum of 1,000,000 tokens available for the programme when the sale reaches its minimum raise, but not more than 5 tokens for every 1 click of real traffic. Bounty participants will be rewarded based on their percentage of the total traffic generated by the bounty pool.

Here's how it works:

Sign up for the programme at this link: http://blog.ammbr.com/bounty-programme/. You should already have an ETH address (one where you control the private key, not an exchange based address such as from Coinbase). It is the only way we can send your tokens after the sale. If you don’t know how to set up an ETH wallet, please click this link: http://www.bitcoinx.com/the-quick-start-guide-for-participating-in-an-ico/

Once you have registered, a tracking link will be displayed. Save this link. You will use this unique tracking link in all of your promotion efforts. The number of tokens you earn will be directly tied to the amount and quality of traffic that goes through that link.

Weekly stats will be emailed to the provided address.

Ammbr bounty programme terms

  • You can use this link in social media, blogs, forums, and signatures. But please follow the basic rules listed below.
  • We reserve the right to disqualify you from the program if abuse is detected. In this event, we will add your tokens back to the bounty pool (more for everyone else).
  • We will monitor traffic and check that the traffic you refer was generated by real people. Participation in the bounty programme must not be prohibited in your legal jurisdiction.
  • Spam will not be tolerated. You and any associates must conduct yourselves ethically and honestly and must not harm the Ammbr Foundation brand in any way.

  • You must not represent that you are an employee or are otherwise affiliated with or endorsed by the Ammbr Foundation, except that your affiliate/bounty links earn you tokens.

  • The ETH wallet address you supply must be able to accept ERC20 tokens. We take no responsibility for the accuracy of the ETH address you provide and are not responsible if any tokens are lost, nor will we be able to replace them.

  • Tokens for the bounty programme will be allocated within 30 days after the token sale concludes. Depending on your jurisdiction, we may require additional information from you in order to issue your tokens.

If you need assets to help you with promotion, see this page with logos and banners: http://blog.ammbr.com/media-assets/

Signatures are coming soon and will be posted in a follow-up message.

Thank you for all of your support!

Looks very interesting. Am I understanding correctly that the goal is to buy bandwidth on the mesh network with tokens? And how is the hardware distributed? I assume you would need a lot of hardware to get enough saturation for a working mesh...

Hi, just very quickly:

Yes, we plan on having a bounty program. I will get the details of it and report back.

@NoxX Yes, that is the basic concept. The tokens will be universal, so you can spend or earn them anywhere in the world. We may also have the option of having "local" tokens that are only good on certain segments of the network as well. This would facilitate token sales for providers of bandwidth that could have a discount for purchasing tokens that only work for segments they control. We also want the option to discount bandwidth for certain individuals or groups, for example, you'd charge your family zero to access your mesh router, but maybe friends a small fee, and then strangers the full amount.

A lot of hardware is an understatement. That's why we are going to make it as cheap as humanly possible - it's not going to be a profit center or a way to make money. We want the hardware to be ubiquitous and spread as far and wide as possible.

@TronREX Thank you, we are very passionate about the project. If you have any ideas or want to contribute, we are very welcoming.

This is really exciting! I've been wanting to deploy solar powered mesh wifi hotspots, but could not figure out how to make any money doing it. This should help a lot.

Just curious as it is not clear from the site or this announcement.

The network you are trying to provide will be solely based on your routers connecting to each other and not being depended on third party networks right?
As in: I don't need my own (paid) internet connection at home, i would only need to be in an area where there are enough others using ammbr routers to connect?

I can see that as a private network, but how would you provide the actual connection to the rest of the internet?

Why do you self moderate this topic? Being able to handle critics without deleting them is a worthy point for any project.

The project with the concept really interesting, finally there is a coin that can be obtained with the hardware, I can not wait for the next program of this coin, bounty, ICO, or airdrop.
Hopefully be a successful project

@Stroto That is correct, you would not need your own connection, you could just connect to a nearby Ammbr router. Someone, somewhere will eventually provide a backhaul to an ISP internet connection. The price of the backhaul connectivity would be negotiated between the nodes that are connecting to that backhaul router and you wouldn't really have to worry about that. You pay your local router(s) whatever fee they are charging. Those routers negotiate fees with their nearest routers and pay for transport, and so on back to the ISP. Each individual node or end user only has to worry about negotiating fees with the router(s) they connect to.

@hugasinora We currently have a bug bounty for the ERC20 contracts and as we publish more of the software on Github, we will have bounties for that as well. We are not sure what the actual bounty reward is at the moment though.

@kutangterbang Thank you for the kind words. You can help make it a successful project, even if it's just adding moral support. Spread the word to your friends etc. and let them know about it. The more people we can harness to make this a reality, the better for everyone. The quicker we can start deploying the hardware and software solutions, the quicker people can begin building their own infrastructure and earning AMMBR.

As a non-profit foundation, our goal is to get the platform into as many hands as quickly as possible. We will be open sourcing or free licensing most of our technology, allowing others to build the tools capable of building the infrastructure. We want other people to build routers, chips, and devices that we may not have even thought of yet. The ultimate goal is to have a global, billion device blockchain processing computer that is completely decentralized and completely autonomous. The DAO will be in control of the rules of the network, no single individual, group, or organization will have authoritarian control. Unlike the current state of Bitcoin, which is governed by a tiny handful of miners, the PoV consensus method will allow billions of low-power, IoT, mobile, and any other type of device to participate in consensus, eliminating the consolidation of mining power to few. While there will be a governing authority (through the DAO), the rules will be open and transparent.

The significant innovation isn't the hardware technology, but instead, the economic model which can allow a rural African town to easily share the economic burden of a satellite link among all of its user participants.  This model of economic sustainability is self-healing and allows expansion at the edge by empowering individuals in a way that has never before been available to the telecom sector.

So guys. if you do not mind I have a couple of questions. Which providers you are gonna use for your wi-fi chain? For example in USA, New-York (upstate) or New-Jersey(Jersey city or Orange county for example). Because I'm afraid so, global internet operators like Verizon, or Time Warner cable, do not accept your idea at all. And in that case, which connections (from which one\or multiple providers) ammbr's users can share? Because if you want to made a decenralized wi-fi internet connection, you actually must have your own internet channel, satellite or wired\optical one. Basically you are must be your own provider. I just trying to understand your idea of independent wi-fi net. Maybe you can share your plans with us - potentional investors.

Like:

1) How much you are going to spend for assembling your own internet channel \ satellite connection?

2) How long it takes?

3) Why ICO start so early (only 8 days between announcing and ICO)? Without full information, without answers and bunch of questions from your future customers and investors?

What a unique concept.
Selling bandwidth using crypto currency is new to me. What i know until now is that selling bandwidth is the work of an ISP. But now it will be traded in the crypto currency world.

The purpose of the Ammbr Project is to allow individuals (or companies) to build their own service however they choose. While we do have plans to develop our own internet channels, that is a ways off yet. The real strength of the Ammbr Project is that it is an open standard and people are able to build out the network in any way they can imagine.

We are not sure what you are asking as far as how long what takes?

The token sale is postponed briefly while we prepare for an upcoming announcement about some new developments that will benefit the project and any interested buyers. If you want to keep up to date on that, you can register your email on our website and we will email you when we the announcement goes out (expect it to go out very soon).
