The network tries to produce one block per 10 minutes. It does this by automatically adjusting how difficult it is to produce blocks.

First, that's antihyperlinked :<
Second, I'd rather see an ARM port, or possibly a SPARC port than a Cell port >.>

Will the unix' version of bitcoin work on PS3? It might if you build it from source.

If you didn't update and still have Linux installed, normally it should work. But Linux on ps3 only uses a verry small portion of the cpu, so I think you wont get a lot of khash/sec. It would take verry long to generate coins and the ps3 uses a lot of electricity, so it wouldn't be the cheapest way of generating coins. If we could use all the cores it would be an other story

Surely the "ultimate bitcoin generator" will inevitably be a dedicated chip? That's always going to beat a general-purpose opcode-driven CPU. Of course, dedicated silicon is expensive to develop...

FPGAs will be where it's at. But yes, they are VERY expensive though they can do a LOT with just a tiny bit of power.

Seriously? Your first post was necro'ing a nearly 4 year old post that is also totally irrelevant to today's mining scene?

So if you can't even unlock this device full potential, why bother? CELL in theory is powerful CPU, and it is still only theory without proper software.
