Hi everyone,

Last week I asked our gracious bitcoinpool.com host to provide some JSON data for active users, and he obliged.  So now, the data is being put to good use!

https://market.android.com/details?id=me.davidgreene.minerstatus&feature=search_result

Yes, it's ugly (very utilitarian)
Yes, it works
Yes, there will be new releases with new features.
An iPhone app will come AFTER I'm done with a 1.0 Android release.

I do plan to add functionality for new pools in the future, but for now I'm focusing on Bitcoinpool as I add more of the "basic" features.

If you use it and love it, rock out a donation -> 1Eyr5mN54UyprUHAw1zXLvkvtDNeG9erD7
If you want to contribute, but don't want to part with your hard earned bitcoin, download ->try -> GIVE FEEDBACK (good and bad!)  Try to stick with feedback where I can do something about it though; "Bitcoins suck" is bad feedback.  For now, respond to me here or minerstatus@trumpetx.com

Thanks again to Geebus for opening up his data!

If you're a bitcoin pool operator and want to open up your data in a similar way, contact me @ minerstatus@trumpetx.com

PS- Feel free to post on either thread, I'll monitor both.  If you really want to get a hold of me, shoot me an email - that's the fastest way.

If your app is crashing on startup, there's a good chance that you put in a miner name with a space or some other invalid URL character in it.  Unfortunately, you'll have to go into Settings->Manage Applications->Miner Status->Clear Data to fix your issue.

However, if you update to the latest (0.4.2), you should not be able to input a miner's name with invalid characters anymore.

Thanks to those who submitted the stacktrace through their phone!

Is there a reason why I can't find it in the Market app ?
Found it only via  your link.

EDIT: w00t, not compatible with my G1 T.T

I can probably change that...  there's a setting where I set the "minimum android version" and I picked 2.1 sort of randomly.  Are you using Android 1.6 ?

Yep. I will soon flash to a 2.1 custom ROM but before I have to study that topic more deeply.

Great for all the 1.6 users.
I just updated to 2.2.1 (CyanogenMod 6.1).

I'm having trouble getting my mavenized project to compile properly with 1.6 -- it might be that I can't do 1.6 with maven, and I care more about maven than 1.6 support unfortunately Sad

I'll see what I can do.

You prefer Maven to Eclipse? I've never tried Maven.

Minor update released.  Mostly moving things around in preparation of supporting multiple pools.

Re: Maven:

I'm using Maven inside of Eclipse, actually.  Maven is just the build/dependency manager.  I use it for the dependency management mostly.

If anyone ever tells you to use Maven for Android build management, SAY NO !

That said, 0.5.5 is out now WITH support for Slush's pool & Bitcoinpool.  More to come!

Still need to add the "detailed view" page.

This should support Android 1.6 (untested, however).

Thank you for your work.  Now that you have added Mt. Gox prices this is very close to being an app that I would check compulsively.  The only thing missing for me would be access to the Deepbit pool ( http://deepbit.net/ ).  I am hoping you are already considering this.  Thanks again!

This is really cool. I've been between getting an iPad or Xoom for my business, but now I'm definitely leaning Xoom.

Have you seen the Asus Transformer?

"The powers of financial capitalism had another far-reaching aim, nothing less than to create a world system of financial control in private hands able to dominate the political system of each country and the economy of the world as a whole. This system was to be controlled in a feudalist fashion by the central banks of the world acting in concert, by secret agreements arrived at in frequent meetings and conferences. The apex of the systems was to be the Bank for International Settlements in Basel, Switzerland, a private bank owned and controlled by the world's central banks which were themselves private corporations. Each central bank...sought to dominate its government by its ability to control Treasury loans, to manipulate foreign exchanges, to influence the level of economic activity in the country, and to influence cooperative politicians by subsequent economic rewards in the business world."

Have you ever seen how mad I get when I decide on something I've researched a while and then someone throws another option into the mix? Haha. Actually, I just looked at it, and now I'm between an Asus Transformer and two Asus Transformers. That's everything I wanted, a lot of the same tech specs as Xoom, but with USB, HDMI, and Micro SD slots? Count me in.

Don't get a Xoom on my account... iPads are just flat out better.  Guy at work keeps complaining about his Xoom and what it can't do compared to his old iPad 1.

I went ahead and added deepbit.net just now.

Update away!
