It is a common myth that Bitcoin is ruled by a majority of miners. This is not true. Bitcoin miners "vote" on the ordering of transactions, but that's all they do. They can't vote to change the network rules.
Advertised sites are not endorsed by the Bitcoin Forum. They may be unsafe, untrustworthy, or illegal in your jurisdiction.

Just for reference (sorry Stephen), I started doing my own stats on SatoshiDice.com using Armory's blockchain tools.   It appears that 1% of transactions are not returned, but even without those the stats look fairly reasonable so far.  In fact, SatoshiDice.com has lost money so far...

The latest data (as of this post) is copied below, but I'm updating this thread daily.

Just for reference (sorry Stephen), I started doing my own stats on SatoshiDice.com using Armory's blockchain tools.

Thank you, yours is much more comprehensive!

In fact, SatoshiDice.com has lost money so far...

A casino that pays out more than it takes in.

They must plan to make up for it with volume.   Smiley

But, that would explain why it is so popular.

The missing payouts are a concern though.  Hoping to learn the reason for that, and also to learn if there have been attacks that have been double spending (clawing back losing wagers, for instance) or what might explain the losses being experienced.

Isn't there a 1000-txn per block limit in place? Seems like satoshidice could cause that to be hit very quickly.

from satoshidice.coM: Step 2 The Ghost of Satoshi will roll the dice and pick a Lucky Number!

Well, he's The One so he can violate the laws of physics inside the matrix and do more transactions than that in a block lol.  So if they want to, allegedly, take up 600+ transactions then no biggie, rofl.

now if you're all like "oh good, some forum nut being all nutty and nutting it up again," perhaps you should read their own 1st paragraph at http://satoshidice.com/bits.php

Ya, so how about a new record, 25% higher than the previous record a few days ago.

18,555 transactions in 24 hours.

Just blew away the previous record by about 10% - 46,684 Transactions, according to:

The obsolete little Dell GX260 with a single-core processor and 512 MB memory that I run a node with that I paid all of $35 for is still keeping up just fine.  Bandwidth requirements seem to be peaking out at around 400 kbits/sec.

The nice thing is that estimated tx volume (blockchain best guess to remove "change") is also solidly on the rise:
