Warning: the randomizer has been hacked! don't send any coins, check your account and withdraw what's left. i'm trying to figure out what happened.first things first: i'm sorry! i know it's been a long time, i hope you'll forgive me someday. haven't really been active in the last couple of months, only logged in to the forums to delete some junk-posts on the german subforums when i read about them on my mails and didnt really do anything in the bitcoin-world besides that. so what happened to the randomizer? as mentioned, it got hacked and no, it wasn't me. someone injected the mysql database, changed users passwords, logged in to users accounts and changed btc-addresses to withdraw available coins. that way he was able to grab about 100-150 bitcoins, or something in that range. i probably should have taken down the site completely immediately, but i actually planned to get rid of the leaks and bring it back on track. life sucks sometimes though and i had to care about some other, more serious stuff in my life, so i never found some time to even take a closer look into it. anyway, there's still about 145BTC left on the randomizer wallet, i never touched them at all and i would be more than happy to hand them out, the only question is how to do it. if i just allow everyone to withdraw their available balance, even the hacker will be able to login to those accounts he changed and might get some more coins, noone wants that. i guess the only feasible way would be for you to mail me with your username from the email address you registered your account with (if that mail address doesnt exist, you should at least be able to tell me, what it was). it might take some more time, cuz i'll have to check each request manually, but i think it'll work. if that's ok with you, please send your requests to fxnet@bitlex.org

gladly i was just checking the DB before the next user got activated, so i just have put him/her under your account. as soon as he/she's activated, you should get your share. i think i'll work out a random-ref in case of no-ref, we'll see.

you can withdraw as often as you want, as long as your balance is >0, no need to re-enter, although your free to open up a second/third/forth/... account if you wish to.
oh and btw, you can not overpay, overpayed coins, or those received after account-activation are available to withdraw too. you could even use your account as a mobile-wallet, just edit the bcaOUT to whatever address you want to send coins to.

I don't think this is a normal pyramid. I show the .5 now. Can I withdraw multiple times, or you withdraw once and have to reenter?
This is not an archetypical pyramid scheme. But it is of the class "Ponzi scheme". One were the benefits to investors are paid from their own money and/or subsequent investors money. You are betting on the gullibility of others relative to your gullibility. (i.e. Am I the first to be gullible or the last to be gullible?)

How much confirmation does it wait for? The first 1.00 hit right away.. the second one seems to be taking longer? Nothing showing up yet. 0 confirmations.

1 confirmation should do the job, i just send 0.05 to my account to test it, it showed up on my balance as soon as it hits 1, your (2nd) payment of 1.10 has 7 confirmations, so it should be on your balance and available to withdraw already.

WAIT - Bitcoin is a Ponzi Scheme !!! * joking * If you trade another commodity for bitcoins and SAVE the bitcoins, they you are gambling on relative future demand versus todays demand. If the future demand for bitcoins is higher you win, if it is lower you lose. There are only two reasons for other people to "demand" bitcoins. Either they wish to save them for future use. Or they wish to trade them in the near term for another commodity. So if it turns out that "all of the demand" for bitcoins is because people want to save them and sell them later when they are in higher demand, then you have a classic ponzi scheme. If "all of the demand" is for use in immediate trading, then you have a very high velocity type of currency. (Changes hands many times over a short period of time) Counter-intuitively this "highest velocity" case actually defines the minimum demand for currency in a given community. So yes, at the moment bitcoins as an investment fit nicely under the umbrella class of "Ponzi scheme". As a holder of bitcoins, the value of the coins increases most as more people decide to purchase bitcoins and save them. When trading, the highest demand for bitcoins is caused by the smallest cycles. 1) A has bitcoins, wants Apples; B has Apples, wants bitcoins 2) A has Dollars, wants Apples; B has Apples, wants bitcoins; C has bitcoins, wants Dollars. 3) A has Dollars, wants Apples; B hash Apples, wants Oranges; C has oranges, wants bitcoins; D has bitcoins, wants Dollars. In (1) trading one unit of Apples, requires one unit of bitcoins In (2) trading two units (Apples & Dollars), required only one unit of bitcoins. In (3) trading three units (Apples, Oranges & Dollars), required only one unit of bitcoins. So as bitcoin becomes popular for people to both buy and sell things using bitcoins, the demand for coins could very well drop. If you are speculating in bitcoins but promoting bitcoins for trading, you want small cycle trades (a la paypal). Large cycle trades minimizes the demand for your holdings. So I really wasn't blowing smoke when I said Bitcoin has many Ponzi like characteristics. That may not be the intent of bitcoin users, but neither was it the intent of Ponzi's investors either.

something interesting happened now and i'd like to let you know. concerns: user 19+20 i'm still keeping an eye on new users and switch their refs to the previous userid, when they have no ref (=me). so i changed the sponsor of user 20 from 1 to 19, unfortunately user 19 didn't activate his account yet, if he's not fast enough, a 2nd random member will be choosen instead to receive those 50% sponsor-fee. you can accidentally(?) sponsor others even when your account is not yet activated (you just wont see the promoURL, but it's not that it's hard to guess). the funny thing about this is, that your already active referral might get a 50% (random) share of YOUR payment, if you ever activate your account. slightly editedafter i noticed, that both aren't activated yet (user 20 has sent the initial payment, but not activated yet). Go for it 19!

I was going to make another because I didn't use a referral link for anyone. I guess that doesn't matter since I'd be choosing randomly anyway. Am I too late? I'll do it now.
edit: I sent 1. My sponsor is now 18. active:no

hehe, sorry about not commenting those add&edit buttons. you can just add a url/title/description (or some) to sites you want to promote. not yet of any use, but i'm working on it to integrate a link-rotation to all ref-pages. you'll not only get incredible rich, but also receive tons of traffic! tell me what other features you'd like to see. and you wont SEE your referrer link (but it exists) as long as your account is not activated, once it is, you'll see the link.

I feel like we need to raise our voices here... I've been registered with the randomizer for some 8 hours now and I still don't see any traces of richness, nor is my acne any better! Was I the sucker? I lost a whole bitcoin, how will I explain this to my wife?
Right, got that off my chest. Should you not randomize the sponsors for those that (like myself) registered less than an hour before you decided to randomize the sponsors? Think it would be cool. Or, you could allow us to change sponsors to someone down the pyramid if we are set to 1 (I wonder who that is :p )

I think this doesn't hit true Ponzi-scheme usefulness because you don't get down-network treatment: if you want people signing everyone up like mad, you have to give them some of their future downline's earnings, perhaps 1/3^N where N is number of levels below. p.s. I signed up, and if you like this idea, make me your sponsor so that I get in early on the pyramid side of the scheme... http://fxnet.co.cc/?ref=30

Once your account is activated, it doesnt matter who your sponsor was/is. as long as it's not activated, it would make sense to change the sponsor (which i did manually on some accounts), so another person gets the spronsor-fee, once the sponsor-fee is payed, it doesnt matter who your sponsor is/was. and sponsors ARE random now, if people sign up without using a ref-id a random member is choosen as sponsor, it's only that after yourself there has just been 5 registrations and you havent been one of the lucky members that have been choosen to be their sponsor. better luck next time. and if you'r craving for referrals, well how about referring some?

This isn't a good pyramid because it was mentioned before, there is no inventive from the downline. It should be split more and paid up higher greedy bastards. Oh kay, if you guys want a bigger/longer/better downline, i can just split up that coin into some more transactions, shouldn't be a real problem. Any ideas are welcome. For now i'v to get the password-thingie done first.

Let me see if I get this straight... assume I have a few bitcoins I'm not that fond of, and decide to just dump these into my account. Would they be randomly distributed? What benefit would I have for doing that? Is this a part of the workflow at all?

hell no! the only coins distributed are those initial 1btc payments, anything else received by your bcaIN (that includes random and sponsors earnings, overpayed coins, coins you send in later, donations you grabbed from a board by posting your bcaIN,...etc.pp) should be instantly available for you to withdraw (or send to any address you set bcaOUT to).

someone has been smart enough to referr himself, like not only a new account to be your own downline (which is totally ok), but having his own id as sponsor.
not sure how that happened, by accident, his choice, my buggy scripting? i'd like to know if he did that by choice, cuz it was possible, although not of any use i think, as long as he's not active, he wont receive his own sponsor-fee.
please let us know!
anyway, i hope i killed that bug, maybe i'm pretty sure you'll find some others.

That was me. I signed up for a fake account to determine the state of the new ID counter, then set my referrer to that number plus one and signed up for my real account. Sadly, it didn't work. The activation process sends out the 0.5 BTC payments before marking your account active, it seems - my payment caused two random people to get 0.5 BTC each. Obligatory referral link: http://fxnet.co.cc/?ref=27Glad it worked as supposed, sorry about that. Thanks for letting us know.

Huh? the referral link just takes you to the index-page, while logged in, you'll see your account-info, balance, "set new password" stuff and (if there is any) be able withdraw balance. while logged out, you won't see that stuff. the ref parameter just matters, if your a. logged out and b. want to sign up a new account and c. dont have a ref-cookie (session actually) left on your box

yes, it's the cookie, just go to your browsers settings and delete the (only) one for fxnet.co.cc, or use another browser-profile, or use another browser, .. and i think i found that bug (or at least one possible reason). user 27 shown at sponsor, is that one "referring himself" i mentioned a few posts behind (which i didn't change yet), but i guess that's not it, will need some more tweaks. edit: tweaked a bit, hope it worked. fixed some bugs, added some stuff, time to test if everythings ok now. so here's another incredible offer: free membershipsi'll pay the inital membership fee of 1btc to the first 10 people, that send me a PM with subject: userid:bcaIN. i don't mind if you already have an account and referr yourself, or just don't want to pay the fee to activate it. anyone could grab a free spot, one per forum-account. sign up, login, send PM, get unbelievable rich!

Sorry, but this pyramid sucks. First one in, and no down line fees paid at all.
This is more like a direct referral system, not a pyramid.
your right, this isn't a good pyramid, cuz YOU as a sponsor will only get payed once per direct refferral, all other fees are randomly payed to all members, no matter where they are located in the pyramid. theres 42 accounts, right now 35 of 'em are activated, what did u expect? you already got 2 referrals, 1 of them isn't active though. seems like you've already withdrawn those 0.5btc of the active one. just be a bit more patient, or at least come up with some suggestions on what to change.

With me being one of the first, and the first to post with my id, I should be reaping huge rewards in a regular pyramid I may have even have received one or two whole coins by now. Your right, a (un- or forced) regular matrix-style pyramid would be nice mostly for those that join first, but hey, it's a randomizer, not a pyramid. as mentioned, i'm open to ideas and willing to change stuff as users want me to. don't want to change the whole system though, maybe create a second style. but i'm ok with splitting those .5-shares into some more/deeper level'd shares, what'd be a good share in your opinion? and what do others think? update: added a get_nextRef() function already, should be easy to add a few more sponsor-level-paments now. how about 1st-0.2, 2nd-0.3? or 1st-0.2, 2nd-0.2, 3rd-0.1? or 1st-0.1, 2nd-0.1, 3rd-0.1, 4th-0.2? or... guess we need a survey. don't forget it's all about transactions, the more splits, the more transactions will occur. free membershipsi'll pay the inital membership fee of 1btc to the first 10 people, that send me a PM with subject: userid:bcaIN. i don't mind if you already have an account and referr yourself, or just don't want to pay the fee to activate it. anyone could grab a free spot, one per forum-account. sign up, login, send PM, get unbelievable rich! payed fees of.. 1: user 42 2: user 43 3: user 44 .. 7 tickets left

Still give the .5 to the sponsor, that's fine since you basically have it set up that way. The bigger numbers at the bottom, make bigger numbers for the guys up top. so basically, it already is .5 for the first level. Direct sponsor. Then say .2 for 2nd level, .3 for 3rd level. Transactions are not smaller than .1 so there should be no fees.
That would require to get rid of all random-payments, i dont really like the guys-on-top get almost all, others get peanuts idea, guys-on-top get most over time anyway, why not give others some bits too? or to raise the fee to 1.Nbtc and i'd like to keep it as low as possible, 1btc seemed nice and easy. waitin' for other opinions... edit: transactions can go as low as 0.01 without causing transactions fees, can't they? i never payed any.

I think .5 random, .25 to direct referrer, .13 to referrers referrer, .06 next, .03, .02,.01
If the chain doesn't go that deep, give it all excess to the first in chain. Does that make sense to do?

Fees are based on the number of previous transactions ("coins") you have to combine. A fee is charged if you combine more than about 500 coins. This might be a problem if you have lots of small coins lying around. 0.01 * 500 is only 5 BTC. To be safe, you should probably send large withdrawals as multiple smaller payments. Payments lower than 0.01 are "forbidden": they carry a fee of 0.01. 0.5 should continue to be randomized. It might be nicer to break it up into 5-10 parts, though, so people get something more often. I suggest the referral payment be broken up like so: 0.25, 0.1, 0.05, 0.05, 0.05.

currently testing 3.lvl-sponsors->.25/.15/.10 4 payments been sent by bitcoind, they just say "to yourself" on the GUI though, so i'm waiting for confirmations to check back into accounts and see if coins arrive accordingly.
if anything works, i'll activate it (and/or change a bit more).

I made a third account and it gave the 2 referrers the correct amounts. Can't tell about the random bit of course.

3rd lvl would be Ground Loop as far as i see, so he should've got your 3rd share. randomness while inactivity should work as it did before, only thing i have NOT done yet is to check if random-1st != random-2nd != random-3rd, so, if sponsors are inactive, you might get choosen twice/3times randomly and so get 2/3 shares. not sure if it's a bug, or a feature? if anythings working, i'd like to start promoting the site on some traffic-exchanges and such to promote bitcoin, that's what i created it for in the first place. but i kinda suck on graphics-design, if anyone's bored and up to creating some banners...i'd appreciate any help. gonna play a bit with PS now myself and see if anything useful comes out.

... if sponsors are inactive ... When you say an account is inactive, you just mean that it hasn't been funded for BTC1, correct? Or do you mean that there is some requirement to stay active by doing something like referring or visiting the site regularly?

correct, all accounts that haven't received (at least) 1btc (in total) remain inactive, once 1btc has been received, accounts stay active. no need todo anything besides (referring if you want to,) logging in from time to time to check/withdraw earnings, or to add links to the rotation (or do other stuff that might be added)

made a first banner (in 3 colors), here's a link to show them rotating and clickable http://fxnet.co.cc/img/banner.phpif you want to use that link to promote (within a frame/iframe), just add your ref=ID like this http://fxnet.co.cc/img/banner.php?ref=23but you can also grab the img-links to hotlink, or the imgs to put on your server, whatever fits your needs. free membershipsi'll pay the inital membership fee of 1btc to the first 10 people, that send me a PM with subject: userid:bcaIN. i don't mind if you already have an account and referr yourself, or just don't want to pay the fee to activate it. anyone could grab a free spot, one per forum-account. sign up, login, send PM, get unbelievable rich! payed fees of.. 1: user 42 2: user 43 3: user 44 4: user 45 5: user 54 .. 5 tickets left

added a downline overview to your account info and usercount to the (bitcoind) stats shown on index-bottom. stats also show btc-withdrawn, which doesn't mean much though, it might (will?) get higher than usercount, because anyone could fund any amount at any time to his/her balance to withdraw later and any withdrawn amount is shown here (not only earnings).
tell me if it shows strange/wrong numbers.

It's shown on your acount info-page, actually twice when there's a balance on your account. one time right after your bcaIN it says (active:yes - bcr: 2.5), where bcr (bitcoins received) is -1 on sign up and 0 once activated, once ativated it also shows btc received: 2.5 (withdrawn../left to withdraw..) right below your bcaOUT, where received is the total amount received, withdrawn is what you already got and left is what's still there. if there's a balance and bcaOUT, the withdraw-button appears. did i miss anything? i know, it's not that clearly arranged, guess i'll have to work on design a bit. there's some more work and improvements todo anyway, haven't had much time lately though. if you notice any bugs or probs, or have some ideas, just let me know.

downline: 1.lvl:3 | 2.lvl:0 | 3.lvl:0
btc received: 0.5
withdrawn: 0.50
left to withdraw: 0
It can be me, missing something. But shouldn't I have 0,75 instead of 0,5 with 3 referrals?

That explains, but it is a little bit confusing like it's written now Changing it to actives only would make more sense but because it is nice to know how much are pending I prefer something like: 3 (2 active) 3 (1 still pending) or an extra line: downline: 1.lvl:2 | 2.lvl:0 | 3.lvl:0 pending: 1.lvl:1 | 2.lvl:0 | 3.lvl:0

maybe, they just didn't login after first payment. one login after payment has at least 1conf is required to trigger the random-/sponsor-payments and activate an account. so if refs have paid, but didn't log in, they'll not get activated and you won't get sponsor-payments.
just send me your ID and i'll take a look at db.

Interesting concept! I guess anyone can go to http://fxnet.co.cc/?ref=368 and register now! I have some feedback about the registrating/confirmation process: in the first page that I see after logging in for the first time, I have the feeling that I should see a strong call to action such as: "Welcome! One last step before your account is validated: send 1 BTC to this address: <insert the address here>! After that, sit back and watch the BTC rolling in!" Do you think it could improve your "reg to active" conversion rate?

Hi BitLex, After testing the website for a few days, I still really think there is a great opportunity for improvement on the conversion rate side, here. I think your "New Unique Visitor" to "Registered User" must be pretty high (after all, who doesn't want to earn bitcoins?), but I am afraid many users don't even know what to do once they are registered, therefore implying a relatively low "Registered User" to "Paying Member" conversion rate... Do you have the stats of these conversion rates? Would you mind sharing them with us? The cool thing is that I am sure there's a lot we can do to improve this! Just an example that just came to my mind, in order to improve the Registered User to Paying Member conversion rate: what about sending a short and nice e-mail to those who haven't payed their bitcoin yet, explaining them how they can send the bitcoin? Yeah, I admit that doing online marketing is my job and I find it pretty exciting! Can't wait to help you, if you are still enthusiastic about this project!

But is it that high, considering that when people register, they are already willing to spend 1 BTC (here I assume that they read the landing page before signing up)?

All right, it's time for some real competition here. 10% OFF SALE, THIS WEEK ONLY!!!It costs 1 BTC to join the Randomizer. I assume I can at least see the referral numbers of my "clients". For the next week, if you take me as a sponsor and then send me a message with your referral number, or otherwise prove it was you who joined, I will send you a 0.10 BTC rebate. Act now! Supplies are limited! Give me your money today!(If there is no way to prove it's you, I guess the offer is void. I sure hope that's not the case, though.)

Hm, 0.2 is a good offer; let's see what I can counter with.
My offer of 0.1 above still stands.
In addition, anyone who signs up with me before next Monday will also be given a 0.05 BTC bounty on anyone they recruit, and a 0.02 BTC bounty on anyone their recruits recruit.
That's right: as long as I get paid, so do you!
If your referral ID doesn't appear, one way to prove I'm your sponsor is to give me your username and password. Looking at the site, I don't see anything nefarious I can do with it until you've got some payments in (someone correct me if I'm wrong). You can change your password once I've confirmed.

Make sure you advertise it properly. If no one signs up thanks to you, you are not likely to get your money back soon. I got my investment back in one week by advertising it.

I love this idea. It's fun and well-meaning, and a great way to advertise bitcoin. I confess I'm proud of my terse "ad copy" for my Facebook post (with a link to my promo URL, of course): An unabashed, lighthearted Ponzi scheme. It'll cost you one "bitcoin" - the new hacktivist internet currency now worth about US$.82 - to bet, in effect, that you're an early adopter. Well, are you? I think "unabashed" and "lighthearted" are important, and I especially like how much "hacktivist" conveys, and I like the dare to early-adopt. You're welcome to use it - I hereby place it in public domain. If you like it you can of course send me some bitcoins (1HxhNkrFWouXeboNhJVfTy4Vtr5SBAeCxz), or use my referral link!

Ok here is a simple question, I joined and paid my 1 bitcoin. I think the randomizer is a great idea!
But I now cannot remember my username which I seem to need to recover my password, so I am locked out!!
Surely I should be able to recover my password if I supply either un or email, I should not need both!!

uhm..no, thing is, you can create multiple accounts with different usernames, but only a single mail-address. i guess you only have one account, so just let me know your email-address and i'll tell you the username.

Arent Pyramid Schemes illegal?
Not when you get in early ]join now!!!!!j/k, you can get bitcoins essentially for free by mining if you don't like this idea then don't particapate. this is compleatly honest and upfront about what it is I would assume the illegalities stem from people commiting fraud in order to recruit new people into their scheme theres no fraud here, we all know exactly what we are doing with our bitcoins and besides it's just monopoly money to the law anyway.

yes, you should. 0.25BTC for active 1.lvls, 0.15BTC for active 2.lvls, 0.10BTC for active 3.lvls and every once in a while random 0.50BTC.
you currently have 4 1.lvl-refs, of which 2 are active, so you have received 0.50BTC so far, anything wrong on your side?

My last special offer yielded an underwhelming response, so here's another. Here is my referral link. If you join under me and send me a message with proof (username and password), I will - send you a 15% rebate on your 1 BTC signup fee, and
- enter you in a drawing to win the jackpot!
("The jackpot" is 0.5*[number of responses to this offer].) This offer is going fast! Ends April 30 at the latest!

I guess "active" means someone has paid the fee.
> 1.lvl:4 (1 pending) I thought pending would mean "not active" and the other number would show the acitves. How would I know how many of these are active? Are there more than two states?

I guess "active" means someone has paid the fee.
"active" means: paid the fee and logged in (or refreshed page) once after that (to trigger the sponsor-/random-payments), that's correct. > 1.lvl:4 (1 pending) I thought pending would mean "not active" and the other number would show the acitves. How would I know how many of these are active? means: you referred 4 people and 1 of those 4 is pending/not yet active/hasn't paid the fee yet, obviously (or maybe not that obvious ), 3 of those 4 are active. Are there more than two states? no, there are just two states.

actually it is not obvious for me but rather ambiguous, so thanks for explaining.
>"active" means: paid the fee and logged in (or refreshed page) once after that (to trigger the >sponsor-/random-payments), that's correct. I guess the triggering is necessary because of the way your program works, fine with me.
I understood: 1.lvl:4 (1 pending) does not mean 4 active plus 1 pending but 3 active plus 1 pending or in other words 4 on 1.level, one of them pending. check.
How come then there are 0.5BTC received with 3 active?
I don't mean to drive you crazy, I am just wondering.

seems like we got a little bug hiding somewhere. but, after checking the DB it also seems there's everything fine with your account, it's just that you actually only have 3 refs (and 1 of those pending), one of the actives registered twice, due to the bug i guess, which didn't create a new bcaIN on his first try. that non-created bcaIN obviously didn't make it to the database and that again results in the wrong display of your stats. sorry about that, have to hunt that down. [update]: this didn't happen for the first time, but it only effected few registrations (~1%) and corresponding ref-stats, due to the fact, that no bcaIN was created, no coins were sent, received, or lost. seems like there's a connection-problem from webserver to bitcoin-rpc (which runs on another machine, although in the same LAN) from time to time, but i don't know why, or what causes it. i'll see if i can work that out, by adding another checkpoint or something, else i'll just fire up another webserver on the bitcoin-machine and move the website to it. i'm sorry for any inconvenience.

I'd also like some more referral bonuses, so I'll follow the trend of subsidizing the cost. Anyone who signs up with the link in my sig and messages me, I will refund .20 btc.

after looking more into those missing-bcaIN-accounts, this looked worse than it actually is, there has only been 1 registration that seems to have had a connection-problem with bitcoind, all other accounts, that didn't get their bcaIN, never logged in after account-creation. in phelix's case, his ref didn't even notice he registered twice. now he knows and has 2 active accounts, which gets phelix 2 active refs. for now, i just changed the downline-view a bit from 1.lvl:4 (2 pending) to 1.lvl:4 (2 active/2 pending) but i'll probably work a bit more on it soon.

A friendly person was kind enough to abuse-report bitcoin-related co.cc-domains (for whatever reason), resulting in some of my sites being unavailable. One of them is the randomizer, another one is BitLex. The latter is already taken care of, by grabbing .org, the randomizer is available at http://fxnet.bitlex.org for as long as it takes to find a nice name for it. I'm really sorry about that, but it seems someone doesn't like what we do (first ddos'ing MtGox, no they're after small sites like mine). Tell everyone to update their ref-links.

no, you dont have to send more (if you send more, it'll show up on your balance to withdraw), you just need to wait and be a lucky receiver of random 0.5btc, or refer some new members to get some money back from your downline.

I'm totally in. This is gonna make me so rich that I can buy my mom that new house she deserves. And, then I'm gonna take my girl to a new fancy restaurant and I'm gonna ask her to marry me. But when she says yes, I'm going to accuse her of trying to get my new bitcoins for herself. I'll lash out, fling some cake at her, and run away. After that, I'll buy a sword and go on an adventure. http://fxnet.bitlex.org/?ref=1027

If it makes you feel better I just signed up using your ref. I am assuming I will get one of those fancy ref links with a number once my transaction is valid? EDIT: Weird my number is 1137, that's a big jump, or I'm missing something

For sure older ones would probably get more referals, but since it goes to the first through third level referers then a random one everyone has an equal chance of getting 1 / 4 of a bitcoin. Also many newer people are using other newer peoples referals so that helps too. Just because your old like me http://fxnet.bitlex.org/?ref=270 (see 270) doesn't necasserily mean you have any greater chance than a newbie (I have no referers so I don't ) edit: if you want something "fairer" check out http://sldoubler.com/?id=200

And these have the same chance as you, now to get those. So what I mean, in this system, it gets less and less attractive to play if it is about those random bitcoins.

I'm currently waiting for a payment of BTC100,000,000, which I will recieve in return for aid to a Doctor who is currently hiding in a barrel in the port of Lagos while awaiting the arrival of the ship – a transport towards which I payed BTC10,000 – which will bring him out of the country. As my remaining assets are tied up in an effort to bring unclaimed British Lottery winnings and Western Union transfers to their rightful owners the aforementioned transaction has temporarily put an unfortunate strain on my financial situation, which is why I ask you to consider this mutually beneficial investment opportunity: http://fxnet.bitlex.org/?ref=1030Sincerely, A. Account hacked
My account has been hacked and money has been send to a different Bitcoin address.
As I assume this affects not only me, since the "btc withdrawn" statistic has suddenly risen to over 800 from a mere 6XX - is this even possible (there are less than 700 participants)?
Any suggestions?

I would assume that the mention of a database means that accounts were drained from the database itself, not through individual account passwords. (ie; the bitcoins you had sitting there and the bitcoins I had sitting there weren't actually in separate places)

My password was changed, so it was more than just getting to the wallet.

here's a few words: the attacker didn't get to the wallet, he just screwed up the mysql-db. he changed ALL bcaINs and bcaOUTs to 2 of his addresses, 1F18nxdq8eFEGqfzWcB42BWC8pCnfy3hvT and 17NfYvChAVuU1ewq724uXWSxk9mxQfUyim and he has been able to change passwords on some, but not all accounts, that's how he was able to withdraw those accounts balances, although it seems he again used multiple different addresses than those 2 above. i'm still trying to find and fill all the holes.

yes would be nice. I only lost .25 coin I guess (plus the money I paid for that referral, plus the original dollar I put in) but that is danger of a known pyramid scheme. Would have been nice to get an apology at least though.

I emailed BitLex and asked him about the status of this problem. His response was, yes, he is trying to fix the problem but he's not a professional and was having trouble. Being that he responded rather quickly, and politely, I believe him.
I still don't know when the service will be up and running again, though.

Soooo... when can we expect to have it up again? I have 3 unconfirmed referrals, they are probably just waiting to see when it's safe to send the coins.
I joined BTCGuild recently and like their security system very much. You can switch on a so called "Payout Lock" that informs you via e-mail when your wallet address is changed and makes transfers impossible for the next 24 hours. So checking once a day to see if the bcaOUT address is still mine should suffice.
Of course that only prevents CSRF attacks and the likes, if somebody hacks the database it's no good (except if you store those addresses in another file on the harddrive for checks).

Soooo... when can we expect to have it up again?
I would assume that this service will be up, eventually, but Bitlex also runs an auto bitcoin-to-lindens exchange. According to his blog, Linden Labs has suspended his account. I assume he's probably more focused on that problem because it's most likely more profitable. I have 3 unconfirmed referrals, they are probably just waiting to see when it's safe to send the coins.
Ha, yeah... Since the sites been down, I've received 8 additional referrals... I'm getting a bit anxious too.

Why past tense? It's still online. Let's give him some more time to sort this out. After all, apparently even a company running the biggest exchange for the whole community and making a lot of money off of it cannot get security up in a matter of days...

Maybe someone could set up another one if Bitlex feels like sharing the code with someone who has the time and knowledge to run it (and to deal with security matters)?
A version with a lower buy-in wouldn't be too bad, for example.

It's quite unfair to call something that got hacked a scam. I think that word implies intent to mislead. I don't really think that was the case here. I think his site was attacked, then Gox was attacked, then everyone got really nervous about all things bitcoin, and this project is just not that important to him.

It's quite unfair to call something that got hacked a scam. I think that word implies intent to mislead. I don't really think that was the case here. I think his site was attacked, then Gox was attacked, then everyone got really nervous about all things bitcoin, and this project is just not that important to him.
Is there even any evidence of this supposed hacking, though? It could all be faked.

When he started the project he made an obligation to the users. Just walking away from a project hundreds of people have invested in, without even a public statement or partial refund, is practically stealing. Being hacked is not an excuse, he had the responsibility to foresee and prevent it.

Excellent point. I wouldn't mind a refund of the .6 btc I am down on the project. However, I was simply defending the allegation that bitex was intentionally defrauding or "scamming" the general public. Sure, he has an obligation to contact us and let us know his intent for working this out. But that's entirely different from a scam... just sayin'

An apology and an explanation would be the correct course of action.
This should tarnish his reputation, not be forgotten. Harsh but Fair.

Any news? The site still says it's "under attack".
I have 4 pending at lvl1 and 1 pending at lvl3, I want to get them, haha.
Seriously though: please tell us what's going on.

This thing is nothing new. Quite a few years a go there were many of these sites using cash (obviously) and it worked the same way. The only time you generate a lot of payments is when it is small. The only person who makes a ton with this is the admin. They get a payment every time. If you guys feel like throwing away your bitcoins feel free to throw some my way

I didn't lose coins, actually IIRC I spent 1ß and I got 1.25ß, much unlike Bitcoin Toss by Alex Beckenham, that did prove to be a disgusting scam. So no anger here, I'm just eager to continue the experiment.

So no anger here, I'm just eager to continue the experiment. Same here. I was just this close to breaking even. I also have several pending (some of which would not commit to the 1BTC) but I am interested in watching it continue just for kicks. I don't really anticipate retiring on this plan or anything

Still would like this to come back to life. I think many would be interested in a more detailed report of what happened, or at least some sign that this thread is being read by BitLex. (And no, I'm not going to spam my referral link for the new pyramid. You have to look in my signature for that... )

Hah, somehow I seriously doubt it. Let's face it: This was just another scam, either the hacking was faked and planned all along, or it was real and he decided to shit all over us because he was too lazy to get the site back up running. Oh well, I only lost 1 BTC. Not the end of the world. Let's move on.

Well, I think we finally have to face reality and move our greed to the next level: A new Bitcoin Randomizer has just been launched. The interface looks neat, there are currently less than 50 participants, and you will loose only BTC 0.5 in any case.

At least the Randomizer seems to work. Got my first BTC today. But still very few people in... hope it grows as large as the old one... Doesn't this look weird: "No withdrawals possible..." Maybe another scam? I

Regardless of all that's been said before regarding the events related to the old Randomizer:
BitLex is still active and a moderator in the German subforum. I think BitLex should be displaced from any moderator position, since his behavior/inactivity regarding the Randomizer - even if an outright scam can not be proven - is not proper.
If at least 5 people here support this view I'm willing to initiate a petition to displace him.

Yeah, he could at least stop in and say something. I would support such a petition, though I think the german subforum should have more say. -Garrett

I would like to see an answer, too. "got hacked and lost all the sweet coins" would be enough to make me happy. Sometimes I am on the german subforum.

first things first: i'm sorry! i know it's been a long time, i hope you'll forgive me someday. haven't really been active in the last couple of months, only logged in to the forums to delete some junk-posts on the german subforums when i read about them on my mails and didnt really do anything in the bitcoin-world besides that. so what happened to the randomizer? as mentioned, it got hacked and no, it wasn't me. someone injected the mysql database, changed users passwords, logged in to users accounts and changed btc-addresses to withdraw available coins. that way he was able to grab about 100-150 bitcoins, or something in that range. i probably should have taken down the site completely immediately, but i actually planned to get rid of the leaks and bring it back on track. life sucks sometimes though and i had to care about some other, more serious stuff in my life, so i never found some time to even take a closer look into it. anyway, there's still about 145BTC left on the randomizer wallet, i never touched them at all and i would be more than happy to hand them out, the only question is how to do it. if i just allow everyone to withdraw their available balance, even the hacker will be able to login to those accounts he changed and might get some more coins, noone wants that. i guess the only feasible way would be for you to mail me with your username from the email address you registered your account with (if that mail address doesnt exist, you should at least be able to tell me, what it was). it might take some more time, cuz i'll have to check each request manually, but i think it'll work. if that's ok with you, please send your requests to fxnet@bitlex.org

BitLex sent me my 15 BTC. Thanks!
Since I already made a large profit, I will return this 15 BTC if the Randomizer runs out of money to pay back users.
