Title: Warning notice on bitcoin.org Post by: JompinDox on August 12, 2012, 04:52:20 PM Many new users coming to bitcoin.org and proceeding to install the client
are quite upset when they find out the software needs hours / days to synchronize, during which there is lots of hard disk thrashing and bandwidth eaten, and all other tasks on their computer slow down to a crawl. Really, is it too much to ask for a little informative notice on the download page? Not everyone is a geek. I recently suffered through this. I wish I would have been warned that I would need ten to fifteen hours before the software would become usable. Running computers 24/7 in this heat is not an option. It took me four consecutive nights to synchronize with the network. You don't need to leech the entire blockchain. |
