Sitting on a few of these old bastards stripped down to nothing.
The 120 and 92mm fans while loud can be made useful.
What about the heatsinks? They look like they could be great for a low profile case however they have the mounting holes of a mobile socket P.
Be a shame to waste these nice heatsinks let alone the silicone and everything else that was put into them.
I'll say despite my hate for BFL like many others, they did make these to stand up to the stress of time and hard labor, though short.

So whats one to do with these pieces of history?

Sadly I think it's time they go on a shelf.  Unless you sell extremely cheap and might get a few bucks.

You might find out what you can get from a metal recycler if you separate the heatinks and case from the electronics.

Dang. If they were still intact I'd have bought a couple off ya for the museum shelf.

Still have a couple together plus some signature BFL stand alone psu's if your interested.
Hate to just scrap them.

There are people selling these locally for around $250.

I think once every few months some idiots actually buys one. So try to sell it on your local classifieds like Craigslist or Kijiji.

Don't scrap it! That BFL Single was one of the earliest ASICs ever made and is an important part of Bitcoin's history. It could be a valuable museum piece someday. See my thread here (http://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1002036).


Why would anyone do that? You can pick up a 180 GH/s Antminer S1 for close to $50 these days which has 3 times the hashing power of the BFL while consuming the same number of watts.

 I guess people are idiots. Even on eBay those sell for $150-250.

You can actually sell it on ebay and still get some money back then nothing.

People are still buying hardware through ebay, so you never know until you try right? But, just dont expect ridicoulous #`s, esp for old hardware. If you get anything near $100 take it and run!  :D

You should either mine with them, keep them on the shelf, or sell them. I would not scrap them. Although there are many around it would be a shame. I had wanted one of those since they came out. I remember the 5 GH at the time that I saw it would have mad $15, and that was when btc's were $120.

DO as I do with old hardware I still even using my usb asics. Just use them for when new coins come along mine them for a few days then stop using as diff spikes up on them. Mining days are over with the old 60GH units but still can be useful for a few days mining to get some new cryptos before hitting markets.

Yeah I agree with this. Do it for the fun of it and not exactly the profit. You never know one day the coin may be worth something.

Is what  I did with zeta coin when it first come out mined about 12.5 million of them sold for about 6 to 7 btc held 1.2 million back sadly lost my key and wallet due to data loss and failed hard drive shame as when it keep they would of been worth close to 1300 BTC back in dec and towards mid 2013. So much  has changed with zeta and seems it is dying out. No one active in irc any more and the thread is almost abandoned shame really as it had a really good wave of rise fall and constant stream.
