Post by: chris1978 on March 25, 2015, 10:11:43 PM
Hey guys,

I am a journalist based in the UK. I am hoping to meet "Bitcoin millionaires" who may be interested

in featuring in a channel4 TV documentary later this year. We are interested in interviewing anyone who

has made their fortune from Bitcoin, be it early investors or Bitcoin entrepreneur's. If you would like to discuss

this further please drop me a message stating your name, contact telephone number and your Bitcoin "net worth"

and me or one of the team will be in touch soon.

Kind regards

Chris

Most millonaires that become millonaires overnight such as the ones that got into Bitcoin at the early stages and didn't sell will not admit publicly that they are millonaires. There are exceptions like rpietila tho.

No doubt.

A person would have to be a fool to admit he has millions of dollars in unreversable currency to every scammer out there.

Really? You're going to make a thread like that without giving any information whatsoever about what you've got planned or even a website?

Seems so as others have said more than likely a scam in the baby stages, i think he should be baited with false leads from a throw away phone i am thinking about it see what i get. I find this a little irritating to be fair if it is trouble then they are planning something pretty nasty.

Actually if someone was planning a robbery, kidnapping or was generally up to no good, there's quite a few people to choose from. Take the Winklevi, Gavin or Roger Ver, not to mention scammers I would in fact like to see mugged and parted with their money. Mark Karpeles is happily taking a dump in his glass toilet in Tokyo and nobody dares to disturb him. Being a rich bitcoiner isn't that dangerous.

I doubt anyone is dumb enough to admit they have millions in bitcoin, you may get some celebrity wannabes with few satoshis, but with bold claims they have 20k BTC in cold storage

I am totally agree with the rest members, i am sure there are Bitcoin millionaires here but why someone appear? special in random thread like this even if you are real reporter (which i have some concerns about that) there is no reason for someone to appear and be a target for Crime activities, Hackers, IRS (Internal Revenue Service)....in my personal opinion i believe that you can search and found the already well known millionaires and started from there it will be more easier to complete the documentary.

Kind Regards,
BTC-Bank.

I have seen a few guy rolling round this forum pretty much screaming about being filthy rich etc but i guess you won't be hearing from them because they suddenly don't want nobody to know lol On a serious note lets see some official proof like a phone number from channel 4 website that we can call and confirm would be a start. Not that it's going to matter a bitcoin millionaire probably will not even open this thread to busy with beers and hookers.

wow, people are a lot more cynical then I thought. Or maybe it's because of the demographics of this forum.

I would want to watch a documentary about bitcoin millionaires. I wouldn't join one if bitcoin goes to the moon and we all become bitcoin millionaires, though.

It would be fine if there was more legit information, but all this is right now is a guy randomly making an account specifically to post and look around for information on the people here, it's should be no surprise they're cynical, as usual after being called out he hasn't made a response either.

Unless of course futureofbitcoin you're his sock puppet account that was created to try and back him up :P

Title: Re: Looking for Bitcoin millionaires to appear in TV documentary

If you think he would take the time to create a sock puppet a month early and make nearly 200 posts that are completely unrelated to this, maybe.

Besides, I didn't even say he's legit, I just said I'm surprised how everyone is so cynical, in a world where people easily get scammed for billions of dollars every year. It's not like bitcoiners have been any less susceptible to scams either.

I have to admit I didn't even consider the possibility that he's a scammer, though the lack of a response makes it seem likely.

Good luck trying to find one. I bet those millionaires would rather not reveal themselves unless the company is willing to fork out some extra money to pay them for the each tv appearances. Even then, I can imagine these people will still hesitate to appear and would rather not sell out their privacy for that.

The worse part of it all is taht you're admitting to millions of people that you have millions of dollars on either your phone or PC. A lot of people would be after you. The person would never have the same life as before. What's the point of Bitcoin anonymity if you're going to tell everyone approximately how many you have?

Let's help out and find you some real "Bitcoin millionaires":
1) Owning over a million BTC is not required, you are looking for people who used BTC to make millions in other currency.
2) Do several million hopeless altcoins help make an interesting TV show?  :D

I like how Op is full of himself and think that every person dream is to appear on TV or be interviewed by 'journalist'. I don't have millions and even if I have I wouldn't talk to journalists, they tend to bend the truth too much for my liking. Plus Op is no offering any sort of compensation payment for this 'job' either.

wow, people are a lot more cynical then I thought.

More precisely.  People in the bitcoin community are more cynical than you expected.

As a long-standing bitcoiner, I find non-bitcoiners to be rather cavalier and highly gullible in general.  There's a big difference between activity in the Bitcoin economy (where you have real freedom and responsibility) and activity in the mainstream economies (where you're effectively a child being protected by your government).  This contrast is felt by many hapless newbies who show no fear (just as puffins showed no fear of human colonists) and fall prey to even highly suspicious scams.

There are plenty of very trusting people out there but they don't have enough freedom to easily hurt themselves and are generally not attracted to such freedom.  Such people will have no interest in Bitcoin until and unless it is blessed and made child-safe for them by their government.

Please take care in any Bitcoin business dealings.

Sorry for the topic swerve. Goat was banned? What was his supposed offense?

Mandatory on-topic content: Goat at least used to own a 1000 BTC Casacius coin (may still own it). IIRC, at the time he purchased it, the ounce of gold was worth a bit more than was the 1000 BTC.

I can't quite remember the details. It seemed to drag on forever. Something to do with him baiting moderators and some dodginess about an old deal gone wrong tied up with Bitcoinica. All he seemed to do was drone on about his Lamborghini and expect to have his willy sucked so it's no great loss.

He sold the coin for over a million dollars in gold and USD supposedly near the peak.

LOL. If big-time media players want to contact you, they contact you. They don't go onto bitcointalk.org, which is pretty smalltime in the big picture. I learned in mass communications and print journalism, if you want to interview say Arnold Schwarzenneger, call Arnold Schwarzenneger. So OP is probably small-time or phony. This isn't wholly true. Where do you go exactly to find bitcoin millionaires or people who have made their fortune from it? It's not like these people have press agents you can call. This forum is a good start as this place was and still is essentially the hub of bitcoin activity. I remember a while back there was journalists looking for people to interview for a documentary who were involved in the cannabis growing industry and they asked on a popular growing board. Of course a lot of people thought it was a sting operation but it turned out to be a legit offer and the documentary was made along with the input and interviews of a couple of the members of the board who agreed to it (though I'm not saying this is a genuine offer).

The truth is - you are not suddenly turning into altruist when you earn your first million. I will give you an example: I do not think that some bitcoin millionaire who resides in Norway will fly to Great Britain just to be interviewed with his own money. He could do it, but what is the point doing this for free?

Hi everyone,

I'm also working for a TV production company looking to do an insightful documentary into people who've made enough money from Bitcoin to significantly change their lifestyles -we're refraining from saying millionaires, although for TV purposes viewers would obviously be more interested in the greater the amount of money made.

The company I work for is called The Connected Set http://www.theconnectedset.com, my name is Jaime Brown and I'm a researcher there (there's a pic of me and info actually on the website), my email is jaime@theconnectedset.com and our office number is 0208 617 1744, just do you know I'm a real person!

I completely understand your points of people making themselves vulnerable to tax and hack threats by revealing their identities, but if there were any people willing to talk to us (in confidence at this stage) then we'd love to hear from them.

Thanks for reading,

Jaime

You would think so, but there are always people who will come forward because some people like the attention. Look at any documentary about anything from the underworld or something in a legal grey area from drug dealers to arms  or whatnot you'll always get people willing to take part. Sometimes they might be fantasists or liars or just attention seekers but people like their 3 minutes of fame. Also, not everyone who earns a lot of money from bitcoin tries to hide it or launder it. Most will probably just cash out, pay their capital gains then spend their new wealth. That''s the easiest way and keeps you out of prison.

Yes, who you mentioned are all btc millionaires, additionally, all big btc casinos' owners are millionaires in the community, like dooglus, stunna, addi, fortunejack's owner, bitcasino's owner, cloudbet's owner, betcoin's owner, they can earn at least thousands of btc per year.

Besides there are btc scammers like firedcat he has over 30k btc and mtgox's owner fatdog has over 100k btc.

I think you'll probably attract the wrong kind of bitcoiners with this. Why does the millions they made really matter or be the subject of a documemtary. Is it just going to be tools who got rich over night showing you round their lavish house and taking your for a spin in their lambo? The people who haven't become fiat millionaires but still hold lots of bitcoin are the ones you want to be talking to. The bitcoin believers who see where the tech can go and still have faith in it.

I wonder how they all started. I remember stunna was a really cool guy paying a great deal on his signature campaing from Primedice. What is the secret for a successful business of that type? im sometimes tempted to create a betting site, but I have no idea how to, and im scared that I would run out of money and wouldn't be able to pay the gamblers.

Chris

 :) ;) :D >:( :( :o 8) ??? ::) :P :-[ :-X :-\ :-* :'(

Next week's headline:
"Bitcoin Millionaire Tied Up and Tortured For His Private Keys After Responding To TV Appearance Offer"

What is your full name Chris?
What media outlet do you work for?
Is this project privately funded or is it backed by anyone?
Can you provide examples of previous works and projects?

I was thinking the same thing ! I mean, what bitcoin billionere in their own mind would agree to do such exposure. It kind of throws the whole anonymous theory out of the window. Dont you think.

I wish I could be on your documentary, but it's not the case. Maybe call me in a decade when mainstream Bitcoin is all over the world. It would be cool to have another documentary with people that made it after the very early adopters.

I think there is only one bit coin millionaire. altho many say he dont actually have a million bitcoins. And if you find him you will be one of most cherished journalist in the world. You will provably get a Nobel prize of investigation journalism (however is it called) if you find him.
