Title: Selling Negro for BTC
Post by: MegaBrutal on August 13, 2012, 01:42:21 PM
Negro is a delicious throat lozenge candy sold only in some countries of Central Europe. It is invented by and named after an Italian confectioner, Pietro Negro in the 1920s. The Classic version is black and anis-menthol flavored, but other flavors exist.

http://undead.megabrutal.com/pics/negro.jpg

I send you 200g of Negro candies for 0.1 BTC. This price includes international postal fees (assuming you live in a UPU member country - which is very likely).

I sell Negro because it isn't produced worldwide, and so it might be difficult to obtain for foreigners. Since it has kind of a special taste, people usually love it or hate it - personally, I like its taste, but many people don't; the rate is like 50%-50%.

You may order 200g of Negro candies in one package. Negro is sold in 100g and 200g bags. This opens the option to order 1 x 200g bag or 2 x 100g bags of different flavors.

Please visit the manufacturer's site to pick the desired flavors:
http://www.gyorikeksz.hu/cid6/tip1/tid18/

Note: the webmaster of the above-linked site has made a mistake and linked the picture of the Honey-Menthol (yellow) bag for the Menthol flavor. The Menthol bag is supposed to be blue (near #0000FF blue).

Currently, I have the following bags on stock:
  • Classic: 1 x 100g
  • Feketeribizli (Black-currant): 1 x 100g
  • Méz (Honey): 2 x 100g

I, by all means, suggest to taste the Classic, because that's the original one, the others are just rip-offs. ;) The "Mix" bag contains a mix of Classic, Menthol, Extra Strong Menthol, Eucaliptus-Menthol, Honey candies (equal proportion is not guaranteed).

You may also chose from flavors those are not on stock, but that might take some extra time to get.

Haha awesome name. There is a brand of cheese in Australia called Coon cheese, also named after its inventor.

Whatever.  Does the entire Spanish-speaking world get a derogatory or misinterpreted presentation because they use the word "negro" to mean the color black?  In some places, "candy" is code word for child porn, so it's just as open to misinterpretation to people going out of their way to misinterpret things and be offended.  If the mainstream media runs an article "Slavery is back thanks to online cryptocurrency Bitcoin" because of this thread, I will blacken, I mean brown my pants with laughter.

It wouldn't be for the rampant ponzi schemes, silkroad, gambling and con-artists, it would because of candy with an off-color (couldn't resist) name?

It's a chimney sweep sweeping chimney. :) It derives from the candy's slogan: "A torok kéményseprője" - "Chimney sweep of the throat".

Note that although the man is drawn in black silhouettes, it is not meant to be implied that it's a black person. The Serbian version of the candy has a clear picture:

Ladies and gentlemen, I'm happy to announce that I'm back into business! The new price for 200g of Negro is 0.1 BTC! Please check the OP for details!

Originally, I set the price in 1 BTC back in August and was selling some candies until the end of 2012. But my life has changed so (for the worse :() that I didn't have time, energy, and motivation to care for selling more candies... But now, I gained some time and I hope my life is changing for the better, and I'm back here to sell more candies!

Moreover, because of to the glorious boom of Bitcoin we're all celebrating, the original 1 BTC price would be waaaaaay too much expensive for 200g of candies; I "reduced" the price to 0.1 BTC. ;)

Hoping to get some new customers soon! :)

Is the OP updated with your stock? A little confused.

Quote
I send you 200g of Negro candies for 0.1 BTC.
Quote
Currently, I have the following bags on stock:
Classic: 1 x 100g

So you only have 100g of classic in stock? Meaning we have to get classic + one of the "rip off" flavors?

And I know this is probably a lost cause for my purposes, but what are the estimated shipping times to someone in the US?

Yes, currently I only have 100g of the classic, but you can order any bags anyway, just that it might take some extra time to get. But it only really matters regarding the rarer flavors - 200g & 100g classics are sold everywhere, even in the little grocery store across the street. ;) However, black-currant (feketeribizli) and honey-menthol (méz-mentol) are relatively rare, and probably I'd need to go to a big supermarket to get them, and even then it's not sure I actually find some - and I go to supermarkets quite rarely.

Meaning we have to get classic + one of the "rip off" flavors?

As above, you don't have to - if you order one that I don't have at the moment, I'll get it for you. ;) So if you'd like to have 200g of classic, I'll certainly buy it for you quickly! On the other hand, I actually encourage people to try 2 flavors at once. For example, black-currant and honey are sweet, unlike the other menthol flavors, I suggest to get one of them for a classic.

And I know this is probably a lost cause for my purposes, but what are the estimated shipping times to someone in the US?

2-4 weeks usually.

Time for the laughs... (Jesting only, does not reflect the actual opinions of the OP or ME or Negro candy.)

"Failed marketing slogans for Negro candy":
- How many Negros can you fit in your mouth?
- Negros, melt in your mouth, not in your hands!
- Whip your negro out, pop it in the mouth, and enjoy how fresh it feels.
- Now everyone can afford a negro. We sell them by the pound, bound in plastic, for your convenience and sanitation.
- This negro can actually fit in your mouth, and leaves it minty-fresh!
- Take it on the bus, sit anywhere, and pop all the Negros you want, in the mouth.
- Negro, popping you in the mouth... Now that's fresh!
- It's the little Negros that make your mouth water.
- Give a negro to a friend, everyone should have a negro.
- Don't look at my negro like that... get your own.
- Next time you have a party, offer them your best crackers and have the Negros served last.
- Crackers and Negros, nothing-else will work as good together...

+1 to this.  If someone wants to find racist remarks on *ANY* online forum, this will be far from the most offensive that they locate.  Although I admit that I have now clicked this link wide-eyed 2 or 3 different times, forgetting that it was candy and wondering what kind of joke was being made.

So you like the taste of Negro.  Hmm...

I need some more negro.  Badly.

Please PM me if you want to order, then I'll calculate prices.
(All above prices are outdate, as Bitcoin value changed too much. Probable I'll update the OP later.)

are the negros still available?

Yes. The above applies to you too. :)

Hey,
Are you still selling negros? I am interested in buying them(ofcourse, not for the rate mentioned in the OP).
Please send me a PM with your new prices. They look delicious.
