Title: Arent there any alternatives to signing a message? Post by: Astargath on March 28, 2015, 07:49:39 AM https://i.imgur.com/yEcMH7Y.png (https://ethershift.co) TRADING UP & COMING ERC20 TOKENS JUST GOT A LOT EASIER! Ethershift.co (https://ethershift.co) is an ERC20 token exchange that provides the fastest and easiest way to acquire the best up and coming ERC20 tokens long before the bigger exchanges list them. After a tokens ICO is finished, the tokens are typically sent to the investors immediately. Listing on major exchanges takes a lot of time and money and is usually not a speedy process if it ever happens at all. A handful of decentralized exchanges have popped up that allow for first access to these tokens, however, they are difficult to use for the average investor. Since the process to acquire these tokens seems hard to the average buyer, most will simply not buy them, and wait for them to be listed on bigger exchanges, and by then, they have already missed out on big gains. Ethershift lists up and coming tokens the SAME day they're released from their ICO and available on the market. Ethershift tokens represent 50% of the GROSS profit of Ethershift. Each quarter, 50% of the gross profit will be used to buy back Ethershift tokens and burn them. Post by: redsn0w on March 28, 2015, 08:47:01 AM Like for instance if i have posted my email or any social account like twitter and i get hacked, cant i prove that im the owner with the twitter account? Or the email. Yes you can, but it would not be the same thing of a signed message. Because theymos for recovery a forum account need obligatory a signed message from a public address posted here in the forum. Title: Re: Arent there any alternatives to signing a message? Or people wouldnt trust it Title: Re: Arent there any alternatives to signing a message? Title: Re: Arent there any alternatives to signing a message? Post by: hilariousandco on March 28, 2015, 11:16:14 AM If your account is hacked then there's a good possibility your email and twitter etc could be too. Signing a message from an old address is pretty good proof that you're the original owner whereas it's pretty easy to hack an email and then just use/claim it as your own so it's not very secure.

What do you mean its pretty easy to hack an email? Why would that be easy, is not. And i use different passwords for every different account. Signing a message is not always possible, for example ive never used my wallet address here, just exchange wallets and others Title: Re: Arent there any alternatives to signing a message? Post by: BadBear on March 28, 2015, 11:46:13 AM Some emails are very easy to compromise.
Depending on third party services we have no control over for identity doesn't seem like good practice. Title: Re: Arent there any alternatives to signing a message? I'm talking about once you have hacked the email it's pretty easy to pretend you're that person, but email addresses are often the weak link to hackings and might not be as secure as you think, and using different passwords doesn't matter if you download malware which is what usually happens. Signing a message is not always possible, for example ive never used my wallet address here. Then use one. Title: Re: Arent there any alternatives to signing a message? I'm not sure what are you doing in a bitcoin forum when you don't even have a wallet address.. all you need to do is post your wallet address anywhere on the forum (remember/write it on a paper), and in case you lost your password, sign a message with that address. simple. |
