Title: Is OpenBazaar dead or something?
Post by: silkbazar on March 31, 2015, 05:00:51 PM
I thought the OpenBazaar thing might be the NEW Silkroad drug market + EBAY Bitcoin version which would make bitcoin price hit $1200.

And did the GBTC public trading stock www.otcmarkets.com/stock/GBTC just die before it launch? It's a joke.

Where is the mass adaptation and the moon promised !? Fucking perma-bulls liars!

OpenBazaar is not associated with Silkroad or any drug market, and it is not dead. Go and read their blog and look at the github updates. They are very much alive.

You are clueless. Openbazar is legal so no Silk Road shit. Things take time. If you don't know how to wait it up then sell, but don't come back crying later on!

I don't think people will be allowed to sell drugs there but i WILL become an "btc" ebay and it will indeed rise the price after bazaar will get enought of public exposion.
Also next time try google before you spread shit.

it is not the news, as of now. Simply because the development is not mature yet. Less headlines, more development if you want to see Bitcoin rise.

I also thought we might see some action sooner, been waiting to sell on OB for a while, i need a stable platform + windows client + some amount of user base then im good to move my ebay listings over.

It's gonna be a hard sell to the average person. In the case of sending your money to strangers in return for their shit, most actively seek out an overbearing big brother to ruin everything. People seem to become especially mindless when indulging in retail. We'll see.

I think it's just not that fancy looking and working yet. I believe there are still some minor quirks that need to be fixed, but at least we could leave behind the times of intermediaries running away with the coins...

I cant wait to get rid of intermediaries and go full p2p, the problem is... how do you avoid the other person running with the coins/whatever you are trading the coins for?

Maybe some kind of escrow.

It's based around escrow and reputation. Buyers and sellers agree on who will arbitrate. It's an amazing idea but it'll need a huge amount of streamlining before it could ever take off properly. It's one hard sell on top of another hard sell.

Maybe places that really need it will lead the way.

No...  only Willybot 2.0 can do that.

Thats the truth right there, it will be interesting to see how the free market solves this.  90% of people who buy from me currently on ebay do click to buy without any real thought and expect everything to be perfect.  Since they can see im a top rated seller they are correct.

I don't think it'll be embraced by your average Ebayer or Amazonian unless it became shockingly slick, even then it requires too much thought for the average person.

There's still plenty of scope for growth. It could be superb for wholesaling and international trade, especially less developed markets.

Well, at least multi-sig could stop scammers from running away with the money. The worst they could do is keep the BTC "in limbo", i.e. no one can access the money in the end. This would at least take away the incentive of making a profit from scamming people - a first step!

Linux has quietly taken over the world. Maybe this will be similar. You really know when something's succeeded when you didn't have to be aware that you were using it.

Phones, tablets, servers, routers and on and on.

The US Navy uses it, the FAA, the French parliament, universities around the world etc.

It might be an unfashionable view, but there's no way I could tolerate it as an OS for a laptop or desktop. It is the backbone of a huge amount of our lives these days though.
