Title: What is the general stance on having Bitcoin and Altcoins in a Casino?
Post by: Bitbets.io on March 31, 2015, 05:11:33 PM
Hello,

Please give your vote and if you choose add a comment or opinion on why a casino should or should not add altcoins as a currency option. Altcoins would be limited to Dash, Litecoin, and possibly Dogecoin. Thank you to all who participate in this poll and happy betting.

There isn't really any harm and is only good as it gives the people more options to play with. So I definitely think adding altcoins is a good option.

I don't have any problems with a site having altcoins but I don't think it's really necessary. Primedice has been running from a very long time and they never added any altcoins. And I prefer it that way.

In my view if you really want to play at a site which doesn't accepts an altcoin you can always use an exchange to convert and deposit and vice versa, especially with instant exchanges like Shapeshift.

Adding popular altcoins is good, more income and altcoin fans will like the site, but only add popular and legit coins, like LTC, DOGE, DASH, NMC, and so forth, don't add scam altcoins.  :D

Im not against in adding altcoins in some casino as some users dont want to exchange their crypto just to gamble. As long as casino can have a good service im ok with it

It's more work and hassle for the site but if they can manage it, no problem in adding some altcoins which have some followings. But it should be one login for all the coins, I don't like sites where you have to create different accounts to play with different coins.

I used my vote in favor of Bitcoin and Altcoin to be added the reason is very simple digital currency are fastest growing and in near future surely will replace paper money. These are cheaper and faster way to transfer funds from anywhere to anyone. I play just in Bitcoin and Altcoins and already have given up fiat money at least for playing on gambling sites.

I'll cast my vote to the BTC+altcoins option. I definitely like having more coins to gamble with but I don't think altcoins should be limited only to the 3 you've mentioned, provided any other altcoin to be added is a legit one. As others before myself already said; more coins mean more gamblers who in turn mean more profits. As an example, i discovered BikiniDice not because of BTC but because they supported Dogecoin; later, i become interested i discovered Tittiecoin after bikinidice started supporting them.
Gambling sites and cryptocoins are intertwined in a reciprocal mutual beneficial relationship; so, it don't make any good to have gambling sites without support for altcoins.

Depends on the size of an altcoin.
If its a big altcoin it might be worth to consider

The more Alt coins you have, the more confusing it becomes. Let's take MoneyPot as a example ... They only use BTC but they use bits and some people struggle with that conversion already.

Let's rather keep it simple and just use one crypto currency.

Some of these Alt's are "pump n dumps" and it would benefit only a very small percentage of the Crypto currency community. {If you need to open up a NEW income source, use one of the more well known Alt coins, and none of these known "pump n dumps"}  :(

This is a place where altcoins are 100% required because Bitcoin confirmations frequently take way too long.

I don't bet with altcoins, but I wouldn't mind bitcoin sites to support a few altcoins as long as they have enough manpower and equipment to handle the additional maintenance work, server load and support tickets.

It would be advisable for a casino to add altcoins with a big market cap and a good community.
I wouldn't mind to have more altcoins in a casino but the casino need to have lots of altcoin to cater to withdrawal.

IMO alts are a distraction.

Over the last few years it would have been easy to integrate alts into a poker site.

IMO that isn't the point of bitcoin - Satoshi invented Bitcoin to be a better form of money.  An Alt currency basically says "well let's just invent a better money one more time"

inventing a new form of money is hard.  To think it could be done again so quickly is foolish.

Several casinos have had significant losses when allowing Bitcoin users to place bets before a single confirmation. Also, forcing customers to wait sometimes an entire hour or more is bad business, so alt coins can be a great solution to Bitcoin's unresolved issue.

Well they shouldnt be using bits then, obviously if the casinos want to add altcoins they would only add the legit altcoins not the scam ones, they can also have an indicator when you play with an altcoin of how much the altcoin is worth at that moment in btc and dollars or an autoconverter so its easy for people
