I wonder how long is this going to go on? These scammers are just everywhere and almost nobody is getting in trouble because of it.
Has anyone tried suing this guy or something? We can't let them go on scamming people via different services!

Thanks for the heads up.

Agreed , this appears to be a maneuver to remove his involvement with past fraud.

More background - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=900970.0

Josh and Gaw claim not to own or be directly involved in Mineral but there is no clear indication who the operators are which is very suspicious indeed.

This appear Toxic and the community is forewarned.

Multiple journalists have indicated there are many investigations occurring with multiple departments and there will me lawsuits brought forth as well. Even using these sites and exchanges opens you up to possible investigation from departments issuing search warrants.

Its finally happening. The wheels of justice move slowly but the day of reckoning is upon Josh and GAW.

Based in Hong Kong too, the same location as Mt Gox.... yeah let's trust our money there...

Curious, if this is in any way involved with Josh, I bet the SEC would love to hear a US citizen is basing things out of a foreign country, to avoid US laws...

Mineral's design looks like cex.io.
BTW what did Garza do with coin-swap.net? They acquired coin-swap back then when XPY scam first hit on it and gained so much attention.

people like this guy are bringing btc down.  the community as a whole needs to realize this, and stay VERY far away.  And if you are scammed report it, file charges if you can.  Seems like scammers never have to face punishment, and it draws them near.  You dont have to look very far on this forum to find examples of that...

Well at last, justice should be served. Pity to those who lost their money in the GAW, paycoin scam. Seriously, though, this dude really got the balls to perform yet another scam. He should go behind bars, and never partake in any bitcoin-related activities ever again.

I am surprised that you call paycoin scam, it is just another alt coin really. Everyone knew from the start that this coin is GAW's last resort, created after they were failing at Cloud mining/hashlet services and something to stay away from. Most of the alt coins follow exactly the same scheme, they are a scams too?

One way or another, the altcoin will also turn into an outright scam. Most altcoins tend to end up as "scam coins," as some people would refer it. Whether or not, people should stay away from those services and coin. Just don't.

As for the highlighted text, I didn't say that all altcoins are scam. It's just that Paycoin came from a scammer so I came to a conclusion that it is or it will be a scam too.

Indeed there are many altcoin scams, but not all of them are so preposterous in their claims and lies as Paycoin 2 was. Additionally, there is a difference in the scope , and coverup of this scam.

This doesn't mean we shouldn't be careful and scrutinize other alts as well. Everything should be viewed critically, especially bitcoin and bitcoin businesses.

This being said there are also many alts that aren't scams and are interesting and innovative(whether they will survive or not is a whole other conversation). You have to judge each coin or project on a case by case basis.

From what I could see the problem with GAW's coin was only the amount or empty promises they spread about PayCoin. They said that it will be the most successful coin ever, that Walmart will be accepting PayCoin and GAW signed contract with many retailers, banks and institutions to promote Paycoin. It turn out to be a huge fat lie. And that is the scam part. Some people believed that paycoin will be better than bitcoin and that is their own fault.

However, through our review we wanted to also share to those that don't know - Mineral is using the former Coin-Swap exchange code base - basically, Mineral is a clone of sorts, a re-branding of Coin-Swap to benefit Garza (obviously).

Coin-Swap saw some success as a coin-to-coin exchange, but was recently acquired by Garza, which is now getting turned into Mineral. To further confirm this, we found this post (archived) by Garza where he clearly states that GAW is utelizing Coin-Swap base code to power Mineral.

Given GAW/Garza's past issues, this may end up being another dramatic endeavor for the cryptospace. As an alternative that is an established coin-to-coin only exchange, I would suggest a service like Shapeshift.io.

But preventing people from being scammed/stolen from is a worthwhile effort.  These scam companies popping up, and disappearing with no consequences is getting old and turing btc into a complete joke.

The ironic thing is that these can be repeated again and again and there are bound to be new victims getting scammed of their money. Even if we manage to spread the word here to every bitcoiners that visited bitcointalk, there are bound to be others which might be unaware of what is happening. That is especially for newbies.

Bump this thread, really hate those scammers, liars.

XPY paycoin scandal was shit, they are very greedy, and scammed many guys.

XPY premine scam looks like AUR, SPA, and those country scam coins, they have the similar things, all 90% premine or more.

And they use press release to pump this coin, and they started to dump, and they cashed out millions of USD or over 10 millions USD.

Hope those scammers will go to jail cell and hell.   >:( >:(   They destroy btc price.   >:( >:(

We can't be held responsible for other peoples' stupidity in the same way that companies can't when in many other situations people end up injuring or killing themselves by ignoring warnings from many many sources.

Hey man, thanks for the heads up.. I really want to keep any of Josh's scam brands off of our listings, so if anyone happens to see a site linked to the Garza mess please let me know (enjoy bitcoins).

I think this is a situation  that really is shedding light on the inability of our current system as a whole, not just bitcoin.  Scams are protected.  There is a big difference, and it gets lost in translation all the time in here... between what is unethical, and what is illegal.

It's too bad.  The best we can do is just keep everyone up to date on what he is up to.  If he isn't breaking any laws, or is working in a grey area, we can all play that game.  Everyone needs to be publically heard, not jst here, but everywhere, all social platforms and everywhere that they are finding investors and marketing their products.

Although everybody involved or interested in crypto for longer knows to stay away from Gaw, Homero and anything that they touch and ruin, some new people might still get scammed if there are too few information and warnings. I learned about hashlets from my friend and at that time I didn't know about this forum and bought some. Got lucky to learn its a scam here, but it was too late, their ponzi began collapsing so I had to take part in that ridiculous ''hashpoints mining'' and then sold my paycoins to make up for loss on hashlets. In the end it was about even, but at the expense of people that didn't knew paycoin was a scam also and bought them...

It s obvious he s running out of funds to pay for his employees so he s trying to find additional sources of income. Paybase was free and now he needs something where he can charge fees to keep the boat afloat. The community there s strong, he might actually survive this.

I am just wondering what will happen to the remaining hashlets - there should be a solution this Friday night in a form of compensation voucher. I would go on a limb here and guess that it's not going to happen.

That makes sense, might as well start this drama/get out today before it starts tomorrow with that disappointment. I'm surprised there wasn't another scheme to prolong things, like every other time a deadline has come up. Maybe the "foundation" really got sick of it and they decided to start the brushfire?

Current members of the community understand that.  It is the new members that I fear will fall for the scam.  Those are the ones who need the warning.

Mineral reminds me of Mintpal because nobody is certain who owns it, although in Mineral's case it's probably Josh Garza. Mintpal ripped off a lot of old timers in addition to new members of the community because nobody knew a scammer owned it. Thanks for letting us know Josh Garza probably owns Mineral.
