Title: VPN that can be paid in BTC
Post by: dothebeats on April 06, 2015, 07:19:21 AM
I don't know if this is the correct board for this one, but I'd like to hear from you guys what VPN service accepts BTC. I'd also like to see the speed, latency, and other issues that the VPN service might bring. I tried to do a Google search for it and I found CryptVPN. I don't know if they deliver good service and fast connections so I came here and ask (but I'm quite uncertain whether this is the right board for my query.) Any replies will be looked upon, though I ask you to please include some pros and cons to the service you might refer to me. Thanks in advance. :)

the one from my signature cryptovpn (https://cryptovpn.me)

They use an escrow and pay for their signature campaign, not directly related to their service but it's worth a mention :)

1. AirVPN (https://airvpn.org)
2. Mullvad (https://mullvad.net/en/)
3. VPNArea (http://vpnarea.com/)
4. IronSocket (https://ironsocket.com/)
5. NordVPN (https://nordvpn.com/)

Review link : https://www.bestvpn.com/blog/10623/5-best-vpns-for-bitcoin/ (https://www.bestvpn.com/blog/10623/5-best-vpns-for-bitcoin/)

Have already read the link and I must say that those weren't sufficient data that I can rely on if I want to access their premium service. :( And the prices are way higher compared to those services that accepts USD as payment. But anyways, thank you for sharing your thoughts about my query. :)

they are
This was the one I was talking about (though I forgot to put an -o in the Crypt, my bad) and I'm not so sure about them, given that aren't listed in the top searches when I type in "best vpn with bitcoin" or any keywords that fall within the same line as the former. Thanks for sharing it too. I might as well look deeper into them before I give it a go. :)

Try Private Internet Access, the one advertised on the forum. It's pretty good and cheap, and accepts Bitcoin.

The speeds are nice.

+1 and link to the service (https://www.privateinternetaccess.com/) for the readers' convenience

Yes I know that it's already at the bottom of every page but it's easy to overlook it after zillion hours of browsing ;)

I have been using their free version for long time. It has some restrictions, but good for daily use.

Recently I received a promotional offer that let me try their paid version for 3 months. I must say I was very happy with the kind of server choices, speed and user experience of the software.

In future if I need to pay for a VPN, I'll definitely go for CyberGhost.

May I ask where is your location? And do they have servers situated in SEA? I'm from the Philippines and we have some shitty ISP here (please Google, go here and start your own internet service). And also, is the speed always like that? Seems like it's good to use their service.

EDIT: I do not see any 3-month subscription plan on their site. ???

I'm already using their free service, and the speed isn't that fast. Maybe because of high latency? The servers that I'm connected right now is in the Czech Republic, and I'm from the far east.

Works perfectly fine for me. Hope the above poster who put pictures of his connections with CryptoVPN will soon reply to my question. I am very curious if they do have some servers located here in SEA because I want to have a connection that's fast and a lower latency. I'll use it mainly for browsing and a little part for games.

Ooh nice. Thanks for your vouch with their service. I'm looking forward in getting their service as soon as possible. Though I must say I'm fairly new to VPN services and such. Well, I should try the 1 month service, but it seems a little pricey compared to their 3-month subscription so I might as well get the 3-month subscription they offer. Thank you for replying, SparkedDev. :D

That could be the case. And IIRC, the free version does not let you choose a server near you. You have to use what they allocate.

The paid version has server choice, plus it also allows torrent data transfer.

You might try http://www.purevpn.com/order/

I don't have very fast internet here, but they were able to saturate my 25 Mbps bandwidth (both up and down) when I did a test a couple of weeks ago to one of their European nodes.  Since they allow you to choose from a couple of dozen countries for your VPN host, you should expect different results depending on which country you connect through.

The have a special going on right now for $8.95 per month.  Seems a lot cheaper than the $25/month cryptovpn wants.

My internet connection is slow compared to what you guys have. For 3mbps/month, I don't think I can go by with that speed for too long (search for the ISPs here in the Philippines and you'll get some pretty neat info on what internet speed most of the users here have.) As for the case, I want to use a VPN, particularly those that have some servers in SEA where I am located. I'm not a heavy downloader/surfer so I guess 10mbps will suit my needs.

EDIT: I see this VPN service provider but I'm not sure whether or not they deliver good service.

So it seems that using your service is indeed good for me, given that you have some servers in Singapore (which is closer to my country than any other servers). I will try your service for next week, might as well subscribe for 3 months and see where will it lead me. Another question: would my subscription affect the speed? As my baseline speed is 3mbps, but I get 1.5mbps on average. :(

No vpn's Don't speed up your connections sadly,
But it adds a few extra layers of security, Features can be found on the home page https://cryptovpn.me/ (https://cryptovpn.me/)

Then what I'm seeing about their advertisements and other people's review isn't true? Doesn't a VPN service help in terms of connection speed? I thought it only depends on what server am I connected to. If there is a server in Singapore, then I might be getting faster connections. Also, based on the reviews that I've read earlier, it seems that using a VPN help them in attaining faster speeds than what they've paid for. :(

Cryptovpn is 9.95 a month

cryptovpn.com is $25/month.  It wasn't clear to me that you were referring to cryptovpn.me.

However, on the subject of VPN prices, you might want to check out https://www.privateinternetaccess.com/  They charge only $6.95 per month for a monthly subscription and accept bitcoin.  I haven't used them myself, but they come recommended by a friend.  I may give them a try when my current VPN subscription runs out.

Yes as sparkeddev said we are http://cryptovpn.me/ (http://cryptovpn.me/)

Our prices are $9.95 per month.

Hello CryptoVPN, I would like to ask how many servers do you have in SEA and what speed should I expect once I avail your premium service? Any reply regarding to my question will greatly help me decide. :)

This is a close server in singapore

I'm connecting via USA http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/4268928600 (http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/4268928600)

If your already using other services like a vpn and get one closer yes it could boost you but only to the amount your isp limit is set.

But speeds set by isp no they are basiclly lying vpns don't make your connection go from your normal 3mb to like 80mb.

Oh I see now. Having read some in-depth reviews about VPNs yesterday, they only route my connection to another route that is not congested and not controlled by those ISP (that is what I understand, at the least). Even if it doesn't exceed my internet speed limits, still I want to try using VPNs, as it will add another layer of security for me, and at the same time, increase the performance (if not the speed) of my connection if ever I connect to a server near me. Thanks for your reply! :D

Avoid purevpn. I paid them via btc and I regret it. I need a reliable connection that is stable for days but after being connected on 3 of the 5 devices each account allows for 12-16 hours it auto-disconnects. I had the option to auto-reconnect checked and it failed to do it everytime. Also my friend tried to get a refund and was told they dont refund if you pay with bitcoin so be careful. That refund policy has a lot of fine print to it make sure you read it.

I can advise nVpn, i used their service for about a year, and its awesome. Low pings, high bandwidth and they keep no logs.
You can pay in bitcoin also, so thats another plus for anonymity. https://nvpn.net
I mostly use it for netflix which i cant watch from my own country ip, and for torrenting, since lately theres a ton of lawsuits regarding those..

cheers
