Title: [experiment] Giveaway, FREE BTC, added daily
Post by: Josepht on April 06, 2015, 09:05:45 PM
Hi all,

Yes, free BTC ;)
I am doing a experiment. I am wondering how greedy the people on this forum are. Therefore I will post the private key of a certain address here. Anyone can take the funds whenever they want to.
The trick is that I will add BTC on daily basis, so that people will wait with claiming the BTC.
As soon as someone took the BTC from the address, I won't add funds anymore. Untill that moment, I will add some BTC daily.

The private key off the 1FsEVxYwuzHfBAgrLFHLqFdE4r68mPmsmP address is 5J7fEfau8qaRYdYmemJHnmnDqpp6uPUiev5rDBE4jPjpaCyZ8yH
Edit: it seems like someone took the 0.0001 within an hour. I honestly didn't expect that.
New address and priv key are: 1M99cDJozWmBNgToxq5U6DXkQ2u92NFKMT and 5JF6A9117cAWShh8ydfPfmyiehFmwYdUog5tpPaBqGWfREf4GvP

I will add the first BTC within 24 hours. I haven't done it yet, in order to prevent people to take it directely and end the experiment.

Thanks for the kind words :)

I think it will be approximately .002 BTC per day.
Rember, it's not first come, first serve, but working together to make the amount as big as possible.

I love the idea but I know it will not make it past day one.

Some people would do allot of work for 0.002  ;D

best of luck tho.

I might add some bitcoin to the address now just to see what happens.  :P

Update: I sent a little to see just how greedy people are. :)

Yes, it is a giveaway. I am giving BTC away to the first person who claims it.
I am not saying that I expect people not to touch the BTC, it is just my advice. If no one touches it, I will add extra BTC. If someone takes it, I won't add BTC.

I agree with this. I could go like everybody lets wait until it's 0.01BTC. Once it does I will split it among you 4 people so we each get 0.002.

But there are some flaws.

Noone can trust the guy who is gonna take the money.

Someone can just take it at 0.009 and keep it all for themselves.

Based on these, I kinda believe this is a first come first serve game.

it was claimed after 18 minutes

this experiment sucks because the title is giveaway (which is not allowed on this forum) and FREE BTC, OP is giving away BTC and when someone take it that means people on this forum are greedy. Pretty offensive.

Wow, just wow.
Within 5 minutes after I sent the BTC, someone already took it. It seems like a faucet claimer took it: 1DkiPdB9SVFK3f2B8z5SDbFtoPTpUMiRhg

I am stunned this person is so greedy that he takes this low amount, while he could have gotten much more.

Does anyone have a good idea how I can make this giveaway more private (no newbies) and still have it exciting? If someone has a good idea, please let me know.

By the way, Racey, some part of your posts says 'private key'. If someone gets that, he can take your whole balance.

Edit: it was within half a minute, unbelievable.

That implies automation. Wouldn't be surprised if there's a bot polling the RSS feed for the forums and adding any found private keys to a watchlist.
