Title: Antpool Oddity
Post by: Llord-of-the-Sword on April 09, 2015, 03:20:56 AM
So, I'm just polling to see if anyone else noticed the odd block (351327) from AntPool. Transactions are waiting to be filled so a 0.2KB block size is indeed odd. I guess someone hard cycled the server and didn't save the configs...

It's most likely the same as I've pointed out before.
If you check their blocks page (no idea what the link is) I think it shows them (regularly :P)
It seems their pool uses the same stupid idea as the crappy eloipool software of sending out work with no transactions on a block change
(i.e. it ignores the transactions available - to attempt to reduce the number of stales by a tiny amount coz eloipool is crappy slow)
I don't know if they just copied the idea from eloipool (though their comments suggested they didn't even know what they were doing) or if they wrote their pool based on the crappy eloipool code itself.
I've mentioned it quite a while back and again to them directly and they've even replied ... but they've not done anything as yet.

Though this thread should be posted there, not a new thread.
