Title: Problem restoring wallet
Post by: tnxjosh on April 09, 2015, 09:15:04 AM
Hi
I am having some trouble restoring a wallet using my seed.
I forgot the password for the wallet, so I deleted the wallet, started electrum again and when I go to enter the seed to restore it, after typing the seed words, the next button is not highlighted or clickable, I can only click cancel..
Any ideas on how to solve this problem?
Thanks in advance

How many words has the seed and which version are you using?

if it is a special wallet type (2fa or trezor), then you need to check the wallet type on the first screen, before clicking next.
if it is a standard wallet, then you have made a typo when saving or writing your seed.

If you made a typo when recording your seed, this open source tool may be able to help you correct it: https://github.com/gurnec/btcrecover/blob/master/docs/Seedrecover_Quick_Start_Guide.md#seedrecoverpy (https://github.com/gurnec/btcrecover/blob/master/docs/Seedrecover_Quick_Start_Guide.md#seedrecoverpy)

A warning, though: because it's working with your seed, you need to fully trust the author of that tool (me...), or you need to run the tool on an offline PC (one that's always offline) to ensure that you maintain exclusive control over your seed.
