Title: Why I'm Resigning From the Title of "President" of the Digitalcoin Foundation
Post by: kenel on April 09, 2015, 12:36:26 PM
Digitalcoin, since the Foundation has been created (as it is currently known), has seen great growth and development.

We graduated from a single developer to a group of very competent and skillful developers.

What we have accomplished in 6 months is far more than I believe DGC has accomplished in its entire history. I believe this is amazing, you guys are sincerely the best group of guys I have ever worked with.

We started out with a group of bagholders and are now a very rock solid team with great motivation.

During this process I think a person with the title of "President" was necessary. It was necessary to ensure a smooth transition, it was necessary to ensure everyone stayed on task, it was necessary to ensure we took DGC from v2 to v3 without flaw.

Guess what? We did that. I didn't do that, we did that as a team.

What is a crypto currency? I'm not going to answer this question, I'm going to leave it to you to decide.

What is a title? Again, I will leave this to you to decide.

My personal feelings?

I'm not going anywhere. My role and my contribution will remain the same. I don't care if you call me "kenel" or "president" or "asshole", I'm not going anywhere. I'm just going to dance.

I will be here everyday putting in the same effort as the rest of our hard working developers. I will fight for what is right the same way the Beastie Boys taught me to.

In reality?

This probably should have been done by myself a month ago when DGC became self sustained.

Our core is, and always has been, our development team.

The role of "president" has been one of vanity.

I want to contribute to DGC more than I want to be "President".

As my last act of "President," I am removing the current and future (meaning there should never be one) title of "President" and instead rolling up my sleeves and getting trench foot with the rest of you. I would rather help push DGC into the direction it needs to go than fall victim to the hierarchy we've been following.

I believe this current hierarchy we've been following is the wrong direction, and it is time to allow open source development to help us into the future.

Long live DGC, long live our dev team, and I truly appreciate every single thing you guys have ever done for me personally and for DGC publicly.

Over the next week I will remove 'president' from my title on my signatures and avatar. I will, however, never resign from the role of being your biggest supporter and spokesperson. I will do exactly what I do now, but no titles. Titles mean nothing to me. I love DGC, I love you guys, and I will continue to do everything I possibly can to support you and make DGC everything we've discussed it becoming....just without the title of "President".

You know where to find me.

- Brian Hornung, DGC Janitorial Staff

Yes finally honesty. Just a group of bagholders trying to make money out of/or back from a coin that was a scam  :o Shitcoin bags what more motivation do you need  8)

The "bagholders" are gone. When real work started to be done, they wanted no part of it and sold off.

DGC isn't full of just bagholders, the coin distribution says otherwise. Data taken from https://chainz.cryptoid.info/dgc/#!rich

54000 addresses currently holding a balance. Also note, the top address belongs to BTC38, of whom we hardly ever see, meaning 35.5% is held by *different* people.

Now, HERE'S a coin with bagholders. Bitbay distribution:

768 addresses with 66% of the supply in the top ten, half of which you'll notice are changed at the same time, meaning they're under control of one entity.

stop the FUD.

How much does it cost to create a new address and send funds to it?
Thats right, its basically free.

There is no way for us to verify that different people hold that unless you want to get 54,000 'people' to sign a message confirming their address/es?

This is not the purpose of this post.

this is true and you've a right to be skeptical, i'm just pointing out facts i've noticed on my own. as far as i'm aware there've never been any campaigns to artificially inflate DGC's stats... which is saying something given the nature of most altcoins.

i do believe however that the differences between times addresses were last utilized can help determine the level of centralization of wealth. four addresses in bitpay's top ten are obviously under control of a single entity. one cannot reach that conclusion as easily when looking at DGC.

You and the rest of the DGC team have done a great job, Kenel.

If you feel your coin can move forward with less friction without a title then I commend your humility and team attitude.

Hope to continue seeing great things from the DGC team [and Argentum too].

Cheers!

So no more bagholders?  It's time for a new wave of bagholders.  Rinse repeat.

They've been gone for a long time bud. What we're doing is honest work for a coin we all believe in.
