Title: [WTB] - 10-20 GH/s mining solution
Post by: yochdog on August 20, 2012, 02:52:17 PM
Hey all......

Interested in buying mining operations, looking for 10-20 GH/s total.  Prefer heavy on BFL singles, or even a mini-rig (we can hope).

However, also interested in 7970 based solutions as well as 5970.

Respond on the thread with what you are willing to sell....

Have you checked the difficulty graphs lately?

Difficulty is what makes mining harder. Your equipment needs to work more to mine the same amount when difficulty grows.

I just wanted to point out that a big investment in GPU-based equipment is a bit risky at this point. It may not pay for itself ever, and that kind of equipment will be completely useless to you if mining wasn't profitable (a machine or two can be justified for gaming I guess).

Just a word of caution. Depending on valuation/difficulty it can be a good investment too, of course. But at this point, it looks risky. ASICs looming in the horizon and all that.

You can't understand sarcasm, can you?  ;D

After a year on these forums, I think he knows what difficulty is  ;)

But srsly, used equipment (esp bundles like he's looking for) can be found a price that CAN be profitable, but only if 1) BFL don't actually deliver in October, or 2) Price doesn't goes down.

Remember, a BTC mined today is the same as a BTC mined tomorrow, regardless of the current price.

People can be involved here for a long time and focus in other aspects, I see nothing strange about that.

Sure it can be profitable. I said as much. But making a big investment in this kind of equipment is high risk right now, with difficulty shooting up and valuation volatility. Nothing is off the books really. BFL, ASICs in general, etc would be factored in difficulty going through the roof at current rates.

one could say that there is a risk involved with any investment made.

And then you throw in the whole Bitcoin investment aspect into this, and now you have an even bigger risk. There is risk's everywhere within bitcoin investments. From gpu mining, bfl fpga mining, bfl asic mining, when to buy, when to sell, when to trade, who to trade with, etc. etc.

If you are too afraid of risk, maybe this bitcoin thing isnt for you. Just sayin'

Pure categorical nonsense.

Risk always needs to be considered. If you don't, definitely this investing in anything isn't for you. Just sayin'.

I said all I thought I had to. Just warning a member of the community in case he wasn't aware of the recent diff increases, so he can factor that. I don't check it that often myself and I mine.

I'm nice like that.

Peace out.

Greetings, I may be getting out of mining completely.  I have about 16.5Gh/s comprising of 18 x 7970's (7 of which have arctic cooling fans, the rest are OEM types by XFX and Visiontek), 2 x 7950's, and 3 x BFL singles with paid upgrades to SC singles with orders 2744 and 2898 placed in early July.  From what I gather we may be geographically nearby, so a pickup/delivery could be arranged.  The mining rigs are all in 3u or 4u cases with various 900-1350watt power supplies all using intel CPUs and motherboards of either LGA 1155, 1366, or 2011 types.

I could get a detailed list of inventory, but wanted to see if you had any interest first.

I'm thinking about selling one of my rigs. x4 5970s. Make me an offer if you're interested.
