Title: Quick 2 question survey for school project
Post by: Investing123 on April 12, 2015, 06:14:19 PM
Hello everyone!

Asking for a little help for a school project.  I've made a quick 2 question survey on your favorite altcoin exchange and how much btc you are comfortable keeping on that exchange.  Please fill out the survey and click submit.  Should take no more than 15 seconds of your time.

Thanks, I really appreciate it!

1) None. Also you didn't include BTC-E?

2) 0. I trust that they will all be "hacked".

There's been discussions about three-letter agencies posing as ordinary users or students to glean info from this forum. That said, for JUST being a student, how long have you been using two spaces after a full stop? Rarely does a person in their late teens or early twenties adhere to said practice, whereas older folks like myself (55) were taught the practice in high school, most, like myself, foregoing said practice once started using the internet on a regular basis.

Just an observation if my sentiment is unwarranted. But, if I'm spot on, consider no longer have future posters pen in such a matter, especially if your goal is to come across as a student in this day and age.

No option for "none"?

Updated to include BTC-E and a zero balance.  Thank you for the feedback.

Haha I can post my twitter post about the same thing on my real account if you truly are that skeptical.  I apologize for my use of two spaces after a period, but it was how I was taught.  Doesn't seem to bother my English professors.

This forum has a poll feature, dude. And do you really think you're going to get anyone to reveal their info by clicking an external link?

Investing123 googles tracking links is probably not that appriciated by people in general.
But for your questions i would say that any of the big European exchanges like Bitstamp, Btc-e and Bitfinex has a relatively high trust level, they have been around for a long while and handled there businesses fairly well, US based exchanges that is newer have lower trust level i think.
In general if you only use the exchange to buy into bitcoins or sell bitcoins and the funds just temporary pass the exchange then its probably good if you dont at any time keep more than 5-10% of your assets at a single exchange so if you have the equivalent of 10 btc/2500$ you should probably avoid having over 0.5-1 btc/125-250$ at the same exchange, if you would have 1000 btc/250 000$ you should probably keep less than 50-100btc/12 500-25 000$ at the same exchange. If you trade and do so successfully and increase the value of your portfolio over time you could probably increase the amount risked at a single exchange slightly over time with a set percentage higher than 10%(maby 20-40%) of your profit.
