Title: Crossfire for mining? Post by: aceman1011 on May 27, 2011, 08:02:09 PM I am new to mining and am building my first rig. I have chosen the Radeon 5830 card for its low price and high hashrate, and was wondering if I could effectively double the hashrate by connecting two cards using crossfire connectors. Would this lower the performance compared to using to separate PCI slots on the motherboard? Thanks!
Title: Re: Crossfire for mining? Post by: ataranlen on May 27, 2011, 08:05:39 PM You would still need to use separate PCI-e slots on the motherboard and separate PCI-e power connectors. Crossfire does decrease performance, but it works without Dummy plugs. Take your pick ;D

Not by a whole lot though, for me, The decrease was about 1% i have massive losses when using crossfire and mining with 6950's. Mining speed keeps varying between 200-430 on my cards instead of beeing stable at 430 with crossfire off. Title: Re: Crossfire for mining? This would be on Windows XP though. From the replies I'm just going to turn CF off and use dummy plugs.
