Why are AntMiners' firmware closed-source / non-GPL? What does Bitmain have to lose by making the source open?

Maybe it's an attempt at security through obscurity?  They're essentially money printers, so if somebody were able to find a way to compromise them there would be a nice payout.  There's no automatic update feature built in and not everybody would bother to update the firmware for something that they rarely interact with.
