Is this crazy or is likely to succeed?

It's not crazy but it's silly.

Like many people who ordered Raspberry Pi boards, he fell in love with it and is constantly looking for uses for it.

there are no clients that can use the video core of the raspberry pi
you can get a raspberry pi within a week - see the farnell websites
some RS real shops have them in stock reportedly though their web sales leaves a lot to be desired
the RPi is great though - depending on what you want and expect

Actually the guy's web site doesn't say he's mining *directly* (i.e. CPU mining) but rather he's using the Pi to control a BitForce Single or ZTEX FPGA board.
This sort of arrangement makes sense for a dedicated mining rig since using a PC is overkill.

Their are plenty of Linux OS which would work on the Raspberry Pi, admittedly Ubuntu my preferred choice is not one of them (it only kinda works with old versions), so it's obvious to me, I would pick one which did work, debian would probably be my first choice. Since it's only going to worth using an OS which has the full support for it's ARM chip, otherwise it's going to either not work at all, or run like crap.

So it's rather silly/crazy, since if those behind the various Linux projects (specifically Gentoo here) didn't have plans on supporting arm chips, I don't think this is going to change it at all. I give him credit for trying, but when I was looking at low power usage processors that gave me freedom to use anything I wanted on it, I went with the Intel Atom and built a small HTPC that I also use to facilitate mining on my FPGA's. It's awesome and didn't cost that much either.

I wish him the best of luck, but he'd be better of trying to get that all working in debian, it's a good OS once you learn it's little quirks like all of them.

I wonder how many mhash Rasperry graphics could draw, of course, if it is compatible with OpenCL, and somebody create driver for linux :)

If you CPU mined a Pi you'd get hash rates in the kilo hash/sec; not worth the effort.

As a controller for an FPGA-based miner it makes sense for dedicated rigs.  They're dirt cheap at $35 a pop.

It's not - the RPi graphics doesn't have anything like CUDA or Stream and isn't capable of running as a GPGPU.

I lost 476$ .... Today i receive my ztex 1.15x ... but this module is damaged :/
