Title: SatoshiDice Question
Post by: Tarion on August 23, 2012, 02:07:20 PM
 I did this bet and won:

      "lucky":46452

"bet_amt":"0.01000000",
"payment_amt":"0.00954424",

But that showes me, I got less back then I payed. What happened?

the tx fee is subtracted from the winnings iirc, since its a bet with such a small payout it only makes sense for larger bets.

bet = 0.01
multiplier = 1.004
winnings = 1.004 * 0.01
fee = 0.0005
payout = 1.004 * 0.01 - 0.0005 = 0.00954

You got a little more than you should.  Probably the true multipler is a little more than 1.004.

So they give a min and max bet, but still allow bets that can not be profitable. Seems wrong, since I did not payed any fees to place the bet. Where is the Satoshi limit for fees?

But yea, fees were also my first guess.

Thanks.

They always pay a fee when returning your winnings to you (win or lose, they return something to you, and always pay a fee).

I don't understand your "where is the limit?" question, but maybe this answers it:

http://www.satoshidice.com/bits.php says:

Quote
On a win or a lose a transaction fee of 0.0005 is subtracted from the payment amount. If this makes the payment amount zero or less the payment is set to 0.00000001. In the event that the transaction costs us more to send back to you, we pay the fee over 0.0005.

i.e. you pay only the first 0.0005 BTC of the fee, and they pay the rest (if any).

We allow very tiny bets primarily because some people like to test the system without risking much money. Before they trust us, they send little fractions of BTC to see how it works.
