Title: Yahoo Exec Jumps On Board Ripple Labs
Post by: Beatkoyn on April 18, 2015, 05:03:46 AM
Another exec from a big company joins us in the Bitcoin Industry.

Is this proof enough that Bitcoin will be a formidable force soon?

Feds, Wall Street, Traditional Banks, global sport brand, now a tech giant.

Who will be the next executive who will leave the _______ company for Bitcoin?

hmmmmmmmmm  ??? ???

No we hate Ripple because it is a genuine threat to our investment in BTC. Satoshi has ~1M BTC, so distribution method has nothing to do with it.

We hate Ripple because it's a attempt to bend the knee towards governments, that are against the anonymous nature of Bitcoin.

You had to link your FB account to your coins, and for most, that was not a option.

Those people, who are willing to do that, can just buy Bitcoins through Coinbase, and have the same result. You do not need Ripple for that.  >:(

Ripple Labs has appointed former Yahoo and AOL executive Brad Garlinghouse as its new COO.

Garlinghouse, who sits on the board of Ancestry.com, became the CEO of file-sharing firm Hightail in 2012. He departed last fall following a dispute over a potential sale of the company, as reported at the time by Re/code.

In a press statement about his new role, Garlinghouse said:

"There is already incredible momentum for Ripple as a new infrastructure for global payments, and the opportunity to define the actual framework for the Internet of Value is an order of magnitude bigger than anything else underway in payments today."

The move comes weeks after Ripple Labs tapped former US State Department official Anja Manuel to work as an advisor. Former National Economic Council director Gene Sperling joined the company’s board of directors in January.

That makes Ripple more of a fiat currency than a crypto. You can claim that I am a conspiracy theorist. But IMO, Ripple was a creation of jealous bankers and government agents, who wanted to kill the Bitcoin. They were hoping that XRP will be able to overtake the BTC. But in the end, Bitcoin proved to be more resilient.  ;D

So what does a top level exec joining ripple lab has got something to do with bitcoin here?

*former top level executive.  He hasn't even been with Yahoo in over 7 years!   :D
As well his time with Yahoo was a disaster - company stock collapsed 3x when he was working there and then increased 4x after he left.   :o

and what does that have to do with Bitcoin, Cryptocurrency or change the trend this industry is seeing?

Ripple is older than Bitcoin, older than dirt, and if it couldn't go anywhere in 10 years then it's not going anywhere.  Investing into Ripple is like believing the 35 year old "genius" who lives with his parents is finally going to turn his life around.   :D  The mother is gullible, and believes the sonny will finally shape up and take his destiny, but even Father Jed McCaleb gave up on that useless shit.

You're right. No one even heard about their distribution method.
Ripple have a lot of insiders that benefit from their coin.

The coin with the best distribution method is XEM coin.

And it also shows the mods aren't really that active in maintaining these boards.  The quality of the forum is shit.  And yes I am guilty of starting dumb threads too.  What more the trolls?

Not sure if this forum is necessarily bad but it contains insults to our intelligence, like this thread.   Like the notion just because somebody is an ex-executive at AYB then that is good news and we should send the price of XRP up 20%.

I am trying to process why bragging about a washed out former top executive, who contributed to dragging Yahoo into the dirt and almost killing the company, is any good publicity for Ripple.  It just reaffirms the impression that any executive, who has a good reputation and a bright future, wouldn't associate himself with Ripple Labs.  They literally had to hire a COO with a bad rep sheet and he's probably going to leave Ripple too when he goes passive aggressive on Chris Larsen and/or when he has a meltdown and an aneurysm, because the intern ate his kale salad.

Why is it good for Bitcoin if some executive is joining Ripple??? It is not even good for the crypto coin scene because Ripple is no real crypto coin. It is something between a crypto coin and Paypal.
