I'm in So. Maine, or 5 minutes from Dover, NH. I accept BTC. Bikes not worth shipping anywhere.

Used to have the XJ550, very nice bike.

Quote
It starts up and runs, but not evenly across all 4 cylinders. Gas isn't making it down to cylinder 4

Any idea whats causing that?

What is the condition of the spark plugs?

I tried 2 sets of spark plugs before buying a brand new set about 2 months ago. They're all sparking just fine.

Gas just sort of dumps into cylinder 2. Cylinders 1 and 3 get a little bit of gas, and cylinder 4 gets nothing. Hence, I think it's a carb issue.

A rough picture of how the gas enters the carb through cylinder 2, and feeds to the other cylinders.

I had the xj 650 and it problems with the yics after standing for a while. I recall that yamaha offered some additive to put into the fuel tank to clean the system, because they had the same problem with new xj models. When they were shipped to the dealers, they were standing for a while, before they actually got sold, so the dealers had to use the cleaner to make the bike run properly.

Tried draining the float bowls? Should be drain screws on them, can be a pain to open sometimes though.

Ya I took the whole carb off (PITA), and boiled the whole thing in a giant pot for like 20 min. Helped clean up some of the nasty residue off them, but it's the YICS system and all the little holes inside the body that needs to be cleaned. I can't do that.

I asked around at a few different shops, and there are some places that can clean them, but not many. I don't have any money to spend toward it, so hence why I'm selling it. ;)
