Title: [Nxt] To those running Nxt nodes - ***UPDATE to NRS v.1.5.10***
Post by: Daedelus on April 23, 2015, 10:06:58 PM
May I draw your attention to Jean-Luc's release notes from the latest stable version of Nxt's NRS software:

Change log:

This is a critical bugfix release. Everyone is required to update.

Jean-Luc is good at looking out for Nxters security (like when the critical Jetty bug was announced and Jean-Luc patched Nxt within 24 hours in version 1.4.16) So.... it makes sense to listen to him  :D

When a large botnet or virus is found on many computers around the world making them vulnerable, the biggest most responsible antivirus companies have patches out very quickly and you are expected to upgrade for your own good.

If not, you are putting yourself at risk as a known exploit might be used against you. This is the same situation  ;D The nodes that aren't running the latest NRS, you are at risk from a known bug. Not to try and scare you but you are putting yourself at risk when there is no need to  ;D

So... moral of the story: Do the smart thing and upgrade to the latest version!  ;D

You can do that here: https://nxtforum.org/nrs-releases/

LATEST STABLE VERSION IS: NRS v1.5.10 as of 7th June 2015

That is all  ;D

You can download a bootstrap blockchain from the front page of peerexplorer.com (http://peerexplorer.com), if copying across your old blockchain fails.

Thanks for sharing this important information. I've just updated my node from 1.4.12. Actually, planned to do the next update on 1.5.

This thread was to encourage an update due to a bug. There is no longer a need for it but users should keep their Nxt client up to date.

The latest versions of the core Nxt client can always be found here: https://nxtforum.org/nrs-releases/

Those versions with an 'e' suffix (e.g. NRS v1.6.1e) are experimental releases and should only be used by more advanced users (as there may be bugs to work out before the official release). Everyone else stick to the newest stable release, which are the highest version number that doesn't have an 'e' (e.g. NRS v1.5.15).

Thread is now locked.
