Title: American, Italian Hostages Killed in CIA Drone Strike Post by: Chef Ramsay on April 23, 2015, 10:42:49 PM WASHINGTON — Two hostages held by Al Qaeda, including an American aid worker, were accidentally killed in an American drone strike in Pakistan in January, government officials disclosed on Thursday, prompting President Obama to offer an emotional apology and assume “full responsibility” for their deaths.
The two hostages, Warren Weinstein, an American held by Al Qaeda since 2011, and Giovanni Lo Porto, an Italian held since 2012, died after the American attack on a compound in Pakistan. Officials said they had no idea that the hostages were being held there despite hundreds of hours of surveillance before the strike and that they only learned afterward that the civilians were among the casualties. They drone bomb innocent civilians all the time, but looks like they only apologize when they accidentally kill one of their own or a European. They need to stop using drones for this kind of thing as they're usually based on shoddy intel. If they don't have the balls to actually do some work and send men in on the ground or do some actual surveillance research then don't bother. No idea what they're even doing in Pakistan either. No doubt illegally invaded another country without permission.

Obama plainly does not intend to stop his murderous drone strikes. Moreover, his supposed regret is focused only on Western hostages. Muslim women and children blown to bits by drones are not included, and will continue to die, without crocodile tears and would-be redemptive claims of transparency. |
