I'd say news channels and commercials. Politicians are also pretty good at this.

I voted "Bitcointalk forum" because people are much more likely to lie if they don't have to look at you when they do it.

I went with bitcointalk aswell.  I think this is because of how elaborate some lies are.  Look at the scam hardware companies that took money and ran.  Some of these put in some serious time and back story. 

Examples are Terrahash, Newer Hashra stuff, list goes on.

Interesting options that you've chosen. I don't see Wikipedia articles having that many lies in them.
Well I'm going for Bitcointalk forum, but this isn't specific for this forum. It's happening pretty much anywhere online where people are anonymous. They tend to lie and act tough just because they need attention.
It's hard to believe a story that you read online these days. It's gotten quite out of hand.

I believe most of the lies are told on by a politician in an political speech which he gives in front of public of the country when the elections are approaching..All those fall promises which are never gonna be true once the elections are over and still we go and vote..Thats RIDICULOUS...

Salesman whether it is door to door or any sales it involves lies. As they want to complete their targets most of them are involved in giving false commitments. They would say its a best deal for us but generally it doesnt happen.

So its better not to trust them.

I think the chanting in a Hare Krishna temple is even worse than a christian sunday bible class because they pray - for me it's lying too - very fast and for hours nonstop.

Politician are first in the list. But husband can also lie to a wife its not only abt having extra marital affair that he would lie to his wife but he would also lie if he want to make out with his school friends or went to spend quality time with his old friends he would lie.

I hate their speeches, I hate their false promises which they make to general public at the Post-Elections and never turned up and never follow their promises. So no one can beat Politicians when it comes to telling a lie. So its better to stay away from politics and politicians.

I keep Politicians ahead of everyone. They have an open stage and open wisdom to lie to the people and its the same across the globe u cant target politicians of certain countries only, situation is same all over the world their words have no value.

haha this thread and poll is a classic, i guess in some instances more lies are told in other areas but the area which makes the biggest difference as a whole is in politics.

I think it has to be political speech when the name of liars and cheaters comes the politicians names are on the top of the list. And its same in all countries they have tendency of committing false promises they will convince the public its for the betterment of society but generally it doesnt works post elections.

Nobody can defeat politicians. They are class actors and in fact the Film Industry should be ruled by them. They copy and paste the same speech while campaigning and throw tomatoes and slippers during political meetings.

They should be hooked up to a lie detector with a BIG PUBLIC TV SCREEN every time they debate one another or make a speech.
If only politicians had the Pinocchio gene we could catch these liars every time.

Still it will be useless as they speak lies with confidence. There are many politicians who have been a victim of sting operations and they have admitted that they are corrupt in those videos. Still they have gone ahead and said "It was my look alike who admitted to it" "The video is fake" There is a conspiracy against me" "My voice is dubbed" "I was threatened". Those lie detectors will break down as they might even be lying about their name and age.

I guess you are wright, it wouldn't work, the best liars (politicians) are those that believe the lie.

Politicians lies  in every stage of life. They dont stick to their promises people knows it but still everyone votes them.
People have a hope that every politician will not be the same and someone will think of country first and then is personal leverages but it simply doesn't happen.They just takes their political power for granted and enjoys king size life  >:(

Aren't the most lies told by ourselves to ourself? in our own heads? Aren't we constantly trying to convince ourselves with petty excuses just to make us feel better? So much so we do not even notice we are lying to ourselves?

We also lie at every stage of life but we don't notice it. Its a Human Nature that keeps on blaming others they will forget what we ourselves are doing? We lie at many small and simple things ignoring that no one is aware about it . We lie to parents teachers friends everyone around us and most lies are told to boss.

That's not lies but it's a hope that we have in ourselves. We try to look at the world in a different way to make ourself feel better else life will be terrible and once our hope breaks, we ourself will break and will be shattered. When I hear news reports or hear about crimes, I lie to myself that it may not happen with me but if I live with the thought that I will be the next one, how will I lead a normal life. This is a hope that keeps me alive and it's not lies that is harmful for me but it works like a medicine.

Lies are those facts that we try to hide from others and that can cause harm to others. If we also lie to others with an intention to harm others, it is considered a lie. Politicians, BCT members or even others to some extent lie to others but to cheat them and those lies cause them harm. Harmless lies cannot be considered as lies.

But the lies we tell our selves often hurt us. The lies we tell when we drink too much, or smoke, or overeat. 'Just this once won't hurt'

I Believe that politicians are at the top of the list..but can't ignore that we also lie if its for our benefit Every human being lies for the better sake of himself. But just ignore and it and keep on judging others and that is ridiculous habit of a human. Its difficult to judge ourselves.

As much as I know politicians lie to get into office, it is not nearly as much as most of the people/scammers on here lie. There is something about most of the people here who are liars and meanies so my vote is the most lies are told here on this forum unfortunately lol What is the most lied section, loans, altcoins, ponzi just to name a few..

Intelliegent and powerful and rich people lies in the most way. Real Estate Agents lies to earn a great profit from the clients.

Politicans lies to the society to get back into the power, A salesperson lies to his boss that he will finish off all his targets for the month, A small child lies to his parents and he doesn't even know that he is lieing, I mean who doesn't lie Everyone lies if its giving them some benefits.

These bunch of people are undefeatable when it comes to speaking lies. Yup, I'm talking about the politicians irrespective of the country. And ofcourse to support them there are news channels who will speak more lies on the television sets in front of society to increase their TRP's.

Have to go with bitcoin their is more lies a politician produces but there are more liars in numbers in bitcoin. Was a hard one to decide but I take my vote and choose bitcoin. It is not nice to be surrounding by liars and scammers >:(

Lies are told everywhere. Sometimes we even lie but we ignore it as it is very easy to judge others rather then judging ourselves. If we are benefitted by telling a lie we would definitely lie but we simply keep on blaming others and call them as liers and cheaters.

The Politicians lie in every stage and at every step. And they take support from the press and media. As the media people spreads the news in the most dramatic way and they know that society is influenced by media So society agrees what media shows them the story.

Yes Politicians are on the top of the list responsible for making false commitments and promises to the society and they don't even turn up once the elections are over. The society should take a pledge not to vote them as they don't contribute anything in the betterment of society.

If an average guy lies to you about his car or apartment size thats nothing compared to politicians lying about their election promises and wont do 1% of when they promised. They dupe the naive idiots to vote for them and then they get away with it..

Let's be honest. People don't actually hate politicians thaaaaat much. People just wanna be cool.

Undoubtedly it is political candidate speech, they are the one who promises so many things before elections and once they clinch the power they forget all those promises as if they never pronounced it and later on they call it as an illusive.

I definitely think that the most lies are told in politics as "our leaders" would do anything to gain the power in a country,state,city,etc.. Lying is just a minor thing besides the other terrible things the politicians do.(bribes,corruption,exploitation,country betrayal for money,etc.)

It would be more accurate to say "lying is a necessity of human life". But I suppose since humans view themselves as God's gift to life and everything revolves around them, his wording is perhaps truer.

Political candidate by and large considered as self interested people, everywhere in the world, be it Western, Middle east, African, Asian, call it anywhere, their blood and veins act as one with other politicians, their promises and talks to be always written on the layers of the water, never to be noted down in the books and theories.

It's not just falling for lies, it's hope.

Yes it's us and the politicians both hope 4 a gud future and it's the politicians only whose hopes are fulfilled.

The reasons politicians lie is because the public doesn't want to hear the truth. People want to hear what they want to hear. When two candidates are running and one of the tells the truth and the other says what the public wants to hear, the one who says what the public wants to hear wins the election. Conclude that if  you want to win an election, you better start lying, because the guy who's telling you the truth doesn't have a chance.

I think no politician will speak the truth, since the winner is the one who tell lies more than the others. But sometimes the politician will fulfill people hope when the next election will be held to attract people attention.

In a court of law. Politicians don't give public speeches everyday, but most every court room hears several cases daily. (Both cops and criminals do their fair share of lying. Not to mention the liars lawyers.)

I think bars and clubs would have to be high up on the list too. I'm sure most people lie (even a little) when they're trying to get lucky. (Whether it be for sex or a business deal.)

Obviously schools and churches have to be high up on the list too, but I think the places I mentioned above have far greater volume of lies.

I was an active editor in Wikipedia from 2004, until I decided to quit in 2011. By then, I had more than 10,000 edits and more than 100 new article creations to my name. In the beginning it was OK. The admins tried to be as neutral as possible.  But things got worse from 2010 onwards. Organized cabals took over most of the editing, especially in sections such as religion, politics.etc. And worser still, people such as Jimbo Wales seems to be profiting out of it.

After that, it's a tossup between any of the person to person interactions.

Sunday school would be my first thoughts, but.. I believe the number one where most lies are told are here on this forum because it is non stop on this forum and many are at it.

I think public school is the most lying place. And not just students lying to teachers, but the teachers lie to students.

About 75% of curriculum is made up BS and propaganda.

Let's see:

History? Winners write history.

Biology? Everything is true except what big pharma doesnt want you to know about medicine,vaccines, microbes and other bio agents

Chemistry? They say to you that the additives in foods and colorants are healty, what about cold fusion technology?

Physics? Everything true, except energy physics that the oil cartel doesnt want you to know: free energy , bio energy,etc

Math? Advanced Cryptography technology that the government doesnt want you to know

Law? Surely you dont think that they teach you the loopholes and exploits in the legal system, that only the pro-lawyers know

Geography? Big corporations doesnt want you to know hidden oil fields and gold mines etc

Astronomy? The gov doesnt want you to know about aliens

Psychology? They dont teach you the advanced stuff, that is used to brainwash people and control the population

This poll couldn't get anymore true. Most lies are definitely told in the sugar coated speech of politicians and their promises. Do not judge any politician with the speech he has just made up before elections. Go for his background and achievements.

Again, if one person does it, it is NOT a conspiracy. If more than one do it, it is a conspiracy. The fact that people who believe the official story continuously talk about conspiracy theories, shows that they are not in good faith. Why? Because even if 9/11 happened the exact way the official story says it did, it would still be a conspiracy.

The truthers constantly answer multitudes of questions in the links. Which is more credible? Stand the official conspiracy story up against the other conspiracy theories, and you find that the official story is much less of a theory than the others... and certainly farther away from fact in this regard.

The reasons politicians lie is because the public doesn't want to hear the truth. People want to hear what they want to hear. When two candidates are running and one of the tells the truth and the other says what the public wants to hear, the one who says what the public wants to hear wins the election. Thus, and there are exceptions to this, if you want to win an election, you better start lying, because the guy who's telling you the truth doesn't have a chance.
