Title: Damaged SP20 (pics) - DEAL CLOSED -
Post by: crowetic on April 25, 2015, 01:44:52 AM
I don't know the extent of the damage as far as functionality, it was like this when I had an issue with my setup at my other location, I turned everything off when I moved and haven't tried to fire it up again, so I can't tell you if it will run or halfway or what... I could potentially test it if requested.

Well why not test it then? You better give it a proper evaluation before trying to sell.  :P

I suppose I could do that. lol. I'm just lazy really.  I don't get much time to do nothing, so when I do, I like to. lol.

looks like you have just to replace some pcie power conectors..  just unsolder the burned ones, and replace them by new ones ,an hot air  soldier station can do the job , with just a bit of patience ...

They must have burnt for a reason. It may not be as easy as replacing the connectors, there may be damaged components inside...

Agreed..you never know what got fried on the board, the connectors are just the tip of the iceberg. Too bad spons doesn't care about their customers anymore, forget trying to get any decent warranty service on these.

Yep!!!! I had the same thing happen to one of my SP-20s.  I opened it up and chipped away at the burnt white plastic on connectors and directly soldered on pigtails to the pins (sticking out of the board).  Looks crappy but still working today.  :-)
