Title: Pirate buys a house in the Caymen Islands?
Post by: crazy_rabbit on August 27, 2012, 08:27:34 PM
Someone mentioned this on BTC-E , and said it was here in the forum already but I couldn't find it anywhere. Maybe I'm spreading nonsense, but I've searched the forum and can't find it already, so---

This news update from a Caymen Island's real-estate claims to have done a 100,000BTC real estate transaction just the other day.

http://www.caymanluxuryproperty.com/news.html

Maybe it's a spoof, I don't know- I'm not doing any detective work at this hour, but I couldn't find the thread it was in (pirate is in ALL of them it seems). So, if it's fake, lets debunk it, if not, lets scream and tear our hairs out.

Oh my god it was there a minute ago! Why didn't I do a screen grab! I'm heading to BTC-E right now to get others who saw the link to post.

waiakead3 at BTC-E posted it, he said he thought it was a spoof, but the news section said they did their first bitcoin transaction of 100,000BTC at the valuation of $9 (and some change) per bitcoin. I remember Bitlane (I think it was him) talking about how the 'real' pirate was involved in real estate.

The panic sell probably happened because 1Dky moved another 100k BTC. There's no reason to panic sell if it was just used to buy a house. If it was about to be dumped otoh...

Just what I was going to say (had to wait for the whois results...).

caymanluxuryproperty.com, on the other hand, was registered in May 2005.

mc_lovin, whois.net probably still hasn't caught up with the news and it thinks the domain is still available, since it was just registered today.

NFW! Surely, that ain't the same Robert Totten I found this morning, albeit a different form or Robert, yet still a real estate broker in the Cayman's.

Why? If Pirate doesn't pay the price should goes up, not down.

well after a blockchain info seems they have at least had 783 bitcoin's in total, before they dumped them all.

The real company with the real website doesn't have anything indicating they accept Bitcoin. The fake site is a complete copy of the real one with the addition of the news.html page, which doesn't exist on the real website, with fake news about a 100000 BTC business.
