 First off let me say hello

As for the question. Im new to this Bitcoin mining and im not sure how to go about it. Im thinking about buying a Bitforce SC (40 GH/s) but I have no clue how to set one of these up. So my question is, are they difficult to set up? I am far from being a computer geek so it would be nice to know if it would be way over my head with one of these.

I know these have not been released yet but I figured someone might know how difficult it might be to set one up. So any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Best is to wait until they will be released. I think nobody knows how they are going to work?

The current BFL Single (~812 MH/s) is very easy to use. I assume that they will want to keep the simplicity for the new SC single. It is literally just plug in and run their easyminer software if you wanted the easiest path. I think they are making the coffee warmers Jalapenos to show that these are devices anyone can use.

Not to say there isnt some "computer geek" in running these things. You will have to learn, but at least you are getting paid for it....

Also, the lack of actual product at this point should cause the smart person to pause and think long and hard about putting money down right now. As of now, there is no solid evidence proving that you will get one October 2012.

 Thank's for the input, still up in the air what to do, pre order now or wait? What to do, what to do. Just thought it might be good to get an order in now. Would hate to order one of these units then not be able to get it going.

Yeah, I hear you there. Lots of back and forth in my mind too. Preorder = more money if all goes well. Waiting = hedge against risk of failure.

In the end, if you have the money to spare, it might be a great time to get in somewhat early and learn something new.  I do believe that BFL will TRY to make their products easy to use and provide some support for those with problems though.

Also, keep in mind that if you preorder and get your unit, then you don't like the hassle, there will likely be many forum members that would take it off your hands. BFL singles still go for over retail because of the quick delivery between two people (versus waiting on BFL to ship). So you could likely sell it for a profit, or at worst, a small loss. So again, it comes down to how tying up your money for a 2-6 months is going to affect you.

 Well I did it, placed an order today for a BFL Single "SC" 40GH/s. Lets hope I made the right decision. Wish me luck........ :o

I am sure there are plenty of developers who will start making user interfaces, nice to use control programs etc...
just like it was with fpga, first it was pretty time consuming setting miner up... but now, some very common software supports fpga (cgminer e.g.)
