Google Has Had Enough: Files Lawsuit To Ban Multiple Apple Products

Quote
I knew this day would come. I can’t say that I hoped for it, but in all honesty, it was inevitable. Apple has been very busy lately in doing all it can to ban as many Android devices as it can, and HTC, Samsung, and Motorola have all got a small taste of the Apple juice lately. But something has changed: Google now owns Motorola, and aren’t wasting any time in defending their new acquisition, as they are now seeking a sales ban on the iPhone, iPad, and Mac computers in the US.

Unfortunately it seems some people don't really understand the concept of mutually-assured destruction after all.  :(

The jury wouldn't allow it. Apple is controlling its consumers' minds. Anyone holding an iPhone has a direct bias towards Apple and the worst part is that we can't do anything since there isn't one person that is completely neutral.

On the other hand, Samsung got much less respect. It would have been somewhat fair for Samsung to pay the $1 bil to Apple, but only if it wasn't such a double standard. Apple had unfair patents, and yet Samsung didn't receive any reimbursements for the 5 patents APPLE infringed on. Damn juries.

Google will always come out on top, with NSA backing, its already written in stone.

You can never be so sure. Samsung had hardcore facts against Apple, and yet Samsung's the one that has a billion dollars less now.

Unbelievable.

Maybe Apple is provoking the industry as a whole.  It's time for apple sauce.

I think the patent system in the USA is out of control, especially with software and business process patents but Apple is a master of this game.

Most of what Google has (through Motorolla) are standards essential patents which sound great but really not a big deal.  Motorola signed contracts guaranteeing that they would license these patents at low FRAND prices.  Google has already lost court cases around the world trying to use these FRAND cases in anti-competitive manner.  Apple on the other hand has patents that have been backed up with courts and are not contractually bound.  Apple can decide to license them or just say no one can make a device with that feature.  Apple is not obligated to come up with a fair price for these patents.

Long term Google is going to lose this battle.

Just follow the money google receives, the second the NSA pulls its funding from it, then we'll have a new bad boy on the block after that (either creating a new company in its place and absorbing google, or switching over to a new hotshot carrier all together)

The more money they spend on lawsuits the less resources they consume. Good for us.
I hope they spend at least 50% of their money on lawsuits, make their products 100% more expensive and loose 90% sales :)

IMO this is simply a red vs blue division of cyberspace and hardware. Control both major factions and maintain complete control.

Nobody can stop Google nowadays, it's just a matter of time until everything we know in the internet becomes Google.

Eventually some project will come along that does what Linux has done to Microsoft to Google.

Microsoft's main lever is Windows which is loosing marketshare since Windows XP and the rest of their products do even worse. If somebody were to do a web-crawler which can provide better search results as a p2p project it's over for google. They don't even have any real income besides their ad program and their exit strategy is on the brink of failure. (Nobody uses Google app engine).
I even think it's worse for Google than for Microsoft since they have OEM manufacturers in their stranglehold and Google has nothing except their datacenter constructing concept which anybody can do.

Google, youtube, google maps, google earth, the whole android market and the list goes on and on.

I think that's enough power.

Mostly all smartphones use google maps as gps.

Basically Apple has lost the game, Android smartphones are winning. Apple resorts to calling people names.

All of which are utterly replaceable by any random site. The android market is their thing and guess what it's the last straw and that's why they are defending it so zealously.

Maybe the goal of Apple is to wear Google down. Then they buy it. Then they kill it. It's M$ tactics redux.

Not true. Maps and Earth have big contracts with mapping and satellite providers. There is a high barrier to entry. There is also large brand recognition, and a lot of users and businesses use GMaps to store and share their data, so switching will be a pain (networking effects). Mapquest, Yahoo Maps, and Bing maps already exist, yet no one uses them.
Same for Google's Gmail/Calendar/Docs/Contacts platforms. Google is pushing hard to have their Google Apps suite replace Microsoft's Exchange service in businesses. One you are locked into a suite like that, it's very very difficult to migrate all of your data and server configurations to something else. Aside from MS Exchange, which is very pricey and cumbersome, there aren't really any competing alternatives to the Google Apps suite (which is free for up to 10 users).
I'll grant you the search engine though. There's whispers going around that most of Google's revenue comes from people clicking on things after searching for products, and more and more people are starting to search for products directly on Amazon.com's site instead. If enough people switch from Google to Amazon, and just use Google for non-shopping searches, that will very likely be a problem, though not one Google can't overcome.

This is why (IMO, Go ahead and beat me to death over this) I think USA law SUCKS.
It's all upto a handful of people WHO DONT WANT TO BE THIER, Who were all LEAGALLY FORCED to sit there on "Jury Duty" None of them want to be there, They are all just gonna agree ASAP and gtfo, They wont give a flying fuck, And also, Majority of people these days seem to carry "iStuff" So the Jury is most likely going to fucking side with apple, The company that the JURY wants to succeed. The jurys are almost always compleatly inadequet

Does 100% of the jury hold atleast on peice of "iStuff"? BAM apple wins
Does the jury NOT hold ANY "iStuff"? BAM google wins.

It's that fucking stupidly simple

For some reason, I am fairly certain that this type of civil lawsuit does not require a decision by "a jury of [their] peers," and will be decided by judge(s) only.

WooHoo!
But then why was the 1billion lawsuit against motorolla from apple decided by a jury?

Those offers are everywhere, although most of time for 100mbit instead of 1gbit. The problem is to really get it you have to move into the area where it is available which is usually just a few blocks in a few districts and if you dig into it the houses who actually have it are overpriced flats. At least that's the way where I live, and I would be surprised if this is different.
