Title: What is the most liquid altcoin?
Post by: tyz on May 02, 2015, 09:32:57 AM
What is the most liquid coin after Bitcoin? I mean, what coin is used at most for trading, buying, investing etc?

If you take the trading volume it must be Litecoin.

What do you think?

Most liquid altcoin would be Litecoin, but if you're an investor with at least $100k you would look for volume so Doge, Ripple and Dash would be a candidate as well.

I would bet on Litecoin, but we will know more after the reward halves in about 4 months. Ripple will break $1B market cap! Doge is dying imo and I don't like Dash.

Why do you think the market cap of Ripple will reacht $1bln after the Bitcoin reward halves? Don't get the point.

Because they can increase coins in circulation without affecting the price at will.

yeah altcoin for sure, because it is the most active trading (http://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/volume/24-hour/) of altcoin
but if you talk about biggest cap for altcoin, ripple is the winner
see this link : http://coinmarketcap.com/
another active coin is dash, but i think it's price at downtrend from last month

Bitcoin is halving next year. Litecoin has nothing to do with Ripple's market cap - I just pointed that the reward will halve. I think that Ripple will break $1B, because it is not just coin/asset and it actually have business-oriented team behind it. Not just some trolls who post here.

Okay, got it, but in my view Ripple is not a fully decentralized crypto coin as the most other ones.

But if it went from .01 to 10 USD, would that matter to you?  Honestly...

Maybe that's the beauty in it and makes it different. :) I don't like the concept, but it is something which can make you profit. It's like 95% of the coins out there - we don't like them, but we day trade them.

But if it went from .01 to 10 USD, would that matter to you?  Honestly...

You mean Litecoin?

No, Ripple.  Or anything for that matter.  Rocks, marbles.. whatever...  If the value went from .01 to 10 USD, would it even matter what it is?

Of course not. The only coin I love is FAIL and probably VIA in some way (recently disliked SFR, because Roshan is not that active). Others don't matters to me.

Edit:  Wait...  You're not a random guy with 3.76573531 BTC?  Are you a sock puppet then?  You're not the puppies guy are you?  I might have hurt his feelings...

It would matter. But people will not have trust in it for long when it is not fully decentralized. Same as with all the fiat currencies. Why should people use Ripple when there is already Paypal, Neteller etc which doing exactly the same. So in my view it is doomed to fail as a digital currencies long term.

Because it would be the network all our banks might use?  As in...  we will have no choice in the future...

Ripple is coming after banks.

Also, if you're comparing the Ripple network with Paypal or Neteller, then it's clear that you have not done your research.  Imagine if all the major crypto exchanges become Ripple gateways, we would have one SUPER EXCHANGE in Ripple.  You hear that?  SUPER MEGA EXCHANGE.  If you thought moving crypto from point A to point B was easy...  Ripple will make it easier.  Assuming all exchanges are Ripple gateways that is....

Banks are give xrp's for free by the millions with a clause that they cant sell before a certain time in lieu to state publicly that they use the Ripple network, not xrp's.
The fast majority of "available" coin have this clause attached including jebs 10 billion stash.

99% of times no xrp is needed you go straight from fiat to bitcoin or whatever you want to change (frequent flyer points, phone credit,.....) Only in the most extreme circumstances  will you need a xrp (exchanging you cats tail with a square hose shoe......)

Lastly if a Bank closes up shop or Ripple is the same thing your stuffed. All is gone, totally different to bitcoin as long as you dont have your bitcoins on an exchange and it closes up. You might as well keep your fiat, banks are far safer than some company you deal with over the net, most likely in a foreign land.

The current price is mega inflated, if not banks would buy like crazy instead of waiting its time to dump.
