Title: Life Expectancy Of Sites
Post by: hottweelz on September 03, 2012, 10:55:00 PM
Is it just my inexperience or when searching around lines like "We Accept Bitcoin" that most of these sites only live for a short while and shut down?

For example, that MokiMarket site (albeit true) is alive, but seems stagnant.

Many other sites that offer Bitcoin Acceptance are either gone or just kind of die off.  I refuse to reference any onion based sites, only legit ones.  Are there any sites I'm missing that are "Major" and "Long term" where we can buy products and services?

Will I be limited (for the time being) to trying to sell stuff (IE Hard Drive, Old Android Phone) to other people with a simple "Bitcoin accepted here" logo on Craigslist?

You're right in thinking that Bitcoin's market penetration is currently fairly poor - There is, however, a lot of room for expansion - I know of no other payment method online with such low fees, or that is irreversible (could be extremely handy for the likes of ebay sellers and other online retailers who suffer chargebacks regularly). On top of this it seems to be the perfect currency for online gambling - it allows poker sites to pick up US customers, for example.

I saw bitcoin.it and admit I probably didn't look into it that much.

I just now, in between reading threads here, posted a $30 Verizon Prepaid Wireless Card on Bitmit.

I figure I have to start creating a reputation and receiving Bitcoins.  (I get VZW Prepaid cards as well as other mobile providers for free all the time).

If it works I'll sell other cards at like 70 cents for the dollar each as well.  Its all in learning.

Most businesses fail. That's how the cycle goes.

For every 10 bad ideas there is 1 good one
for every 10 enthusiastic people there is 1 with the perseverance to continue when expectations are not immediately met :)

and for those daunted by the thought of 'so much competition':

your only real competition, are those with as much determination and persistence as you.

the other 9 out of 10 'competitors' don't really count.
