Title: Those who were around in 2010/2011, any accurate predictions (in retrospect)?
Post by: americanpegasus on May 13, 2015, 01:24:24 PM
Can you recall someone claiming that bitcoin would break $100 or $1000, and being laughed out of town?

What would you have thought if confronted with an accurate prediction about the future? ($1000 at the dawn of 2014, and a long crash down to $200ish before the next bull run)

Come on, tell me some war stories.  I love this stuff; I wish I hadn't dismissed bitcoin when I first heard about it back then.

I remember Proudhon doing the counter and got laughed away into oblivion  ;)
Then there was Zangelbert Bingledack, whose bullish predictions usually forebode a rally.

Got in at $10 and remember thinking all the guys on here shouting $1000 were absolute nutjobs.

That showed me.

People say to me "Oh dear, that Bitcoin thing you invested in crashed, didn't it" with a wry smile. I'm quite happy with the return.

Actually, if you go back in time enough in time you would find how BTC would never reach 100 again:https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=140394.5

And if you keep going, you can see people claiming 10 and even 1 would be impossible to reach.

So yeah, we'll reach 100K+ sooner or later.

not exactly the same thing, because the higher the aim the more hard is to achieve it, reaching 1 or 10 was easy before, low coins circulation, price could be easily pumped even by one poor person only

As my friend said in Vegas, "Sure, take some off the table.   But don't be afraid of the monster run."

It is great fun to read through past posts.
What all long term predictions come down to in the end: Nobody knows. It is hard enough to predict next week's price.

I thought all price figures mentioned were nuts. They turned out just fine (if only hodling would be easy). I guess only Risto's €300k did not happen. Wait a minute..  ::)

Quoted for you:

go! go! go!
however I fear there is a strong psychological resistance at $1000...
wat? $1000 BTCUSD?

But we should remember it was only an high manipulation and we will not see again 1'000 dollars per bitcoin (maybe after the next block reward halving, who knows).

We could easily see $1000 before end of year.
