Title: Is there a word for this? Post by: Vod on May 14, 2015, 04:25:43 AM Shuffling through all your open browser tabs to find out which one is playing the video/music.
Is there a word for this? Should we make one up? So fricking annoying when videos start automatically, and even worse when they delay for a few seconds/mins after you open the page! Title: Re: Is there a word for this? Post by: Assad on May 14, 2015, 06:50:13 AM yes
it is called bad page design. Or slow connection if they take that long to load Title: Re: Is there a word for this? Post by: Foxpup on May 14, 2015, 08:46:48 AM I am deeply disappointed that this (http://i.crackedcdn.com/phpimages/photoshop/6/3/7/167637.jpg) still doesn't exist.

Why dont you take part in signature campaigns , while you can earn alot from them ? Title: Re: Is there a word for this? Thank you so much!!! +1 Also, I feel earning from the forum gives me a conflict of interest. That's why I don't escrow for people I may need to leave negative feedback on. The word = "ctrl-1, ctrl-2, ctrl-3, ctrl-4, ctrl-5, ctrl-6, ctrl-7" :P Title: Re: Is there a word for this? Post by: Buttknuckle on May 14, 2015, 06:31:35 PM Yeah! There should totally be a word for this. My mind is blank, but I am sure I will think of something witty ten months from now when it no longer matters.

Title: Re: Is there a word for this? Post by: MysteryMiner on May 14, 2015, 10:15:40 PM I never open more tabs than I'm reading right now or listening and close those I don't need anymore. It usually maxes out at approx 5 tabs. Much easier to find offending tab. But with Adblock these delayed videos are rare.
Title: Re: Is there a word for this? Post by: tspacepilot on May 14, 2015, 10:36:09 PM Vod, I don't know the word for it. But I do have a solution: set your browser not to autoplay videos. I always put my plugins to "ask first" or whatever the setting is called. :)

HTML5 is here now and it is both awesome in it's possibilities and horrible how they are implemented.Title: Re: Is there a word for this? Post by: alani123 on May 14, 2015, 10:42:04 PM Noscript will block almost all auto-playing videos/sounds on irrelevant pages. It's not ideal for casual browsing though, Tor uses it in an attempt to prevent javascript footprint reading.
Title: Re: Is there a word for this? Post by: naypalm on May 15, 2015, 12:25:34 AM Just call it Spelunking. The english language is a smattering of words that are spelled or sound the same.
Spelunking noun | spe·lunk·ing | \-kiŋ\ Code: The art or practice of closing unwanted browser tabs. Example: Danny was Spelunking through his web browser to find the mysterious noise. I wonder why I haven't had this problem yet (maybe because my sound is always down or something :). |
