The reason I am saying this is because I was around for MarineCoins inception and the developers made wild claims about giant yachts, MarineCoin cities, and a fake marketcap higher than BTC. If it is completely open source and Communities can opt to use whatever Coins they want, it would be a much bigger boost for MarineCoin than if it's only pseudo open-source and have to use MarineCoin as the base pair. I do appreciate that the developers are still working on MarineCoin after all this time, for me there are trust issues there but to do something like open-sourcing an exchange that Coins can easily setup would be a great step in gaining wider acceptance of the community in general. MTC wallet is at the core security and transparency provider of this exchnage by various signed message functions, this will not mean other coins can not be paired with others but exchange providers will find its best practice not to implement changes to the code as it will not be necessary and will reduce risks significantly. I will also advice to stay away from knocked off variants of the official exchange that will be posted on github.
