Title: Looking for coders to work on a new startup
Post by: m3 on May 18, 2015, 08:10:28 AM
Hello, I am currently developing a brand new social platform for bitcoin and am looking for any developers that would like to help with the project. Compensation is available in btc and/or equity. Contact me via PM or skype: btcfeed for more info.

The webapp is being developed in node.js + mongodb so it is a plus if you have experience developing applications using the above.

Please don't use Mongodb for anything to do with finance. You need to use a standard database with transaction support and full ACID compliance if you want your financial records (I'm assuming you're going to be doing at least something with the blockchain) to remain consistent.

Agreed.  There are some free options out there, like MySQL and Prostgre.  Personally, I prefer Postgre, since it's more stable than MySQL.

Is this an open source project?  I can help in my spare time, since I'm looking for a nice project to join.

i agree with both foreposters. Mongodb is not a practical solution for acid. and you should definetely use acid for critical apps.
i am a experienced web developer and i am interested to join your project. can you please provide me some more information via pm.

Relational Databases for the 21st century:

MariaDB Galera Cluster
https://mariadb.com/kb/en/mariadb/what-is-mariadb-galera-cluster/

WebScaleSQL
https://github.com/webscalesql

We're using Galera at work but we're keeping an eye on WebScale

I'm a unix sysadmin with more than enough experience in unix (AIX or solaris), linux (including LAMP setups), scripting in php/perl, databases (mysql, postgresql, oracle, db2,...)

My rates aren't really cheap, and depend greatly on the work. PM if you need my help  ;D
