Title: Guys is there such a thing ??
Post by: legendster on May 19, 2015, 02:49:27 PM
So I just got back from a month & a half long contract job and landed a local animation project.

So, I basically work on my primary desktop which has a decent ROG graphics card with an old overclocked core 2 duo processor but I recently upgraded my laptop which has an inbuilt graphics card unlike my previous duffel bag (very old laptop) and I was wondering if I could do some network rendering to speed up the render process; my problem : I dont know how.

Sounds kinda noobish but isnt, kindly read on.

In total I have 3 computers, where 1 is the new Laptop, 1 primary desktop, 1 old desktop rig without monitor (using the monitor from that rig as a dual monitor setup on my primary desktop)

I have 1 Rj11 router (http://www.flipkart.com/digisol-150-mbps-wireless-adsl2-2-broadband-router/p/itmdnyn24vegh9f5)
And one Voip switch cum router router (http://www.innomedia.com/mta6328-1be2s/).
And an USB 2.0 ethernet adapter.

The root of my problem is that even though the laptop looks spanking new and is well preserved; it's ethernet port is faulty & doesnt work.

And neither of these routers allow me to create a successful connection through that usb ethernet adapter.

The current ISP connection jack is a RJ45 connector.

Hence, My question is : Is there an internal card that has RJ45 WAN port along with a minimum of 2 LAN ports and also a WIFI connection ?

Yes I can go for a router but I'd prefer not to.

The WIFI is for my play stations, currentlty Iam only streaming video from my PC to the consoles via the rj11 router which has wifi, I would also like to share the internet connection with the consoles.
And no form of ICS / Bridging between the router's wifi & existing rj45 connection would work here - I've tried.

So guys, is there such a card that has both wifi and a WAN port and LAN ports ?

Good stuff, but like I said I am looking for an internal option. This is an external router albeit a very good one.
