I have seen this before. It was not supposed to be a wedding ring, just another standard ring. Also, the reason people like jewelry is because it's valuable by itself. If you can just print yourself another wedding ring, then what was so special about it in the first place?

I don't like the shape :( I thought it would be a ring with a round Bitcoin logo on the top of it, or maybe just some text related to bitcoin around the ring.

That's what I'm talking about, I love the model in that site. No wonder, it's funded by Kickstarter so it must be a great stuff :D

It looks like a plastic piece of tat you would get out of a gumball machine. If you offered a plastic wedding ring to your prospective wife and said "will you marry me" she would probably refuse. No self respecting woman would be seen wearing a plastic wedding ring.

Your right, it looks like the icing they write stuff on cakes with, yum.

Anyone else try scan the QR code, didn't work for me, probably need a straight shot of the ring.

That paint looks pretty goobery, I seriously doubt a straight on shot would help anyone read it.

I like the idea for jewelry, however I would want to see better quality workmanship.  It wouldn't need to even be gold.  An attractive metal like copper could be used.

A ring with a slot to save the private key would work just as well.
I don't know what to make of this particular ring.

in my own opinion, rings like this should be made like a tech geek tool rather than a formal wedding ring :D

Indeed, the ring in the OP should not be 3D printed, but atleast made out of gold with a more subtle QR code. Engagement rings should be nice to look at, not be a monstrocity.

Ugly, very ugly. Plus u might get dumped before u get married with that ring. Unless there is a huge diamond at the top.

You could have two seperate rings.. The one has the QR Code for the Bitcoin Address and the other the QR code for the private key. The Passphrase could be something only you and your partner knows.  ;)

So the story goes.... Both of you contribute monthly to this Bitcoin address to save up for a 10 or 20 year anniversary gift or holiday or a second honeymoon.

When you have these rings made, nobody knows the Passphrase, so it should be relatively safe.  ;)

Sounds like a good idea.  ;D ;D ;D

You don't understand. The ring was never meant to be a wedding ring. It's just that somebody thought it would be a cool idea to call it so.

Most women get excited with things of value, diamonds for example.
However, in this case, judging by the OP picture, I doubt any woman would wear that ugly thing.

I appreciate the idea & every bit of news/publicity for bitcoin is a good thing but damn that is one ugly ring.
Wedding ring or even normal ring I wouldn't wear that, it's hideous.
Looks cheaply made & tacky.
Sorry guys but this gets the thumbs down from me.

Well I have shown my girlfriend this ring picture and she is attracted to it. Most women only wears jewelry from gold or silver but some women like things to be different. Actually it is not ugly at all but it can be better

You can separate the private key into half to both people. Therefore without each another, you cant never access the walle even if you know the address.

You are right, those look A LOT better than the original in OP.  The original one looked really tacky, but the silver ones look pretty nice.  I wonder how well they will be received though, because most people want to show off the value of their ring with the big diamonds, but this ring has to be scanned to see the value.  Anyways, it is cool idea!

It's a marvelous idea! Actually the value of such ring might be a lot more than of those thin golden rings with tiny diamonds. Show off is OUT and hidden value is IN today. I wish more people understand this.

Way better than the ring OP posted. The ring OP posted looks like a plastic toy. And you can't really wear that with anything. Anyhow, this other ring really seems cool. And it's not just that. It's already cool looking and at the same time very functional. I dont mind wearing a ring like this. Really an amazing idea you got here. Hope it works out.

My friend is planning to ask his girlfriend to marry him. They both live in Melbourne, so the whole asking process (dinner, candles, love, Sinatra) is going to be there too. He's kind of victim of procrastination, so he haven't even bought an engagement ring yet. Any ideas where to buy a good one there? He doesn't want just to buy it, but to choose a diamond, design and other things all by himself. I know abou this http://www.kushdiamonds.com.au/ company, any other ideas? It's cool to have a choice, you know. We should enjoy all the advantages of capitalism  ;D So, in the long run, I just want to kno if anyone can suggest me&him any good jewelry stores in Melbourne that offer hand-crafted rings.  ??? Thank you in advance!

Yes i think is best design for that is round shape and gold plated on i think if your wedding ring is like that no one will wear it cause its kinda weird and. The design is square. It can be use on punching people.

I like it. I have considered a similar idea for my girl friend in which the transaction or private key of a message and/or address is engraved in the inside of a ring. But she is not nerdy enough to accept such kind of proof of love  :D

I don't like it personally. Call me old fashioned but this ring is plain ugly and I would be feel strange wearing something like this on my finger everyday.
I love bitcoin but there is borders how far your love for cryptocurrecies can take you and I feel this ring is only good for exhibition, and not meant for wearing at all.

Yeah for merriage you should not have to gift a ring of recorded details but of the coin of Bitcoin, the ring will be more attractive and precious if he weld/stick a  physical bitcoin in the ring.

I have seen those rings before... Oh yes, it is the toy gift you found in the Lucky packet, back in the days... or the small toy you find in a Christmas Cracker.  ::)

I am very cautious after buying some jewelry with Bitcoin now... The seller said it was 24ct gold and when I tested it, it was gold plated... covered with epoxy to make testing difficult. So.. be careful.
