Title: MY ACCOUNT GOT HACKED
Post by: Limits on May 25, 2015, 04:27:24 PM
HELLO

I DID NOT MAKE ANY DEALS JUST TO LET YOU KNOW MY ACCOUNT GOT HACKED I RECIEVED AN EMAIL MY INFO GOT CHANGED. I managed to recover it, it was this acc guys.

"You are receiving this message because your email address is associated
with an account on bitcointalk.org. I regret to have to inform you that
some information about your account was obtained by an attacker who
successfully compromised the bitcointalk.org server. The following
information about your account was likely leaked:
 - Email address
 - Password hash
 - Last-used IP address and registration IP address
 - Secret question and a basic (not brute-force-resistant) hash of your
 secret answer
 - Various settings

You should immediately change your forum password and delete or change
your secret question. To do this, log into the forum, click "profile",
and then go to "account related settings".

If you used the same password on bitcointalk.org as on other sites, then
you should also immediately change your password on those other sites.
Also, if you had a secret question set, then you should assume that the
attacker now knows the answer to your secret question.

Your password was salted and hashed using sha256crypt with 7500 rounds.
This will slow down anyone trying to recover your password, but it will
not completely prevent it unless your password was extremely strong.

While nothing can ever be ruled out in these sorts of situations, I do
not believe that the attacker was able to collect any forum personal
messages.

I got the same email.  BTT's ISP was hacked, and a lot of people's accounts were compromised.

So, if I didn't received that kind of email. It's mean that my Bicointalk account is not got hacked(someone know my password) right?

Everyone got the same email. Just change your passwords (+ security question) and you'll be fine.
Also, watch out for any possible fraud/malware emails coming to your associated email addresses.

It means you haven't checked the email account associated with your account, or you have given an invalid email address.

that is a standard email, which is sent to all those for whom it is believed that the hash password(not your real password) is compromised

it's advisable to change your pass anyway

'and you'll be fine' lol

I don't know who actually is charge of Bitcointalk but he's a FUCKING MORON.  If i could delete my account here i would.  Place still relies on SMF V1 FFS even after the last super hack, and the owner knows so little about coding he gave root away to the webserver and prolly has no idea what malware was inserted into the code LAST TIME it got hacked.  Do yourself a favour mate when you say 'it'll be fine' and wake the fuck up.  Do I care that I am being an ass? No i don't.  Why?  Cause this place is a shitbox full of scammers, thieves, hackers - and it's all acceptable by you moderators who can't moderate for shit, and work for a retard who can't keep his own site secure.... and YEAH, I still don't think it's secure.  Not just because of the antiquated tech behind it but because it's maintained by a moron who gave way root ffs.

~~ Xodianbarr ~~

P.S.  Feel free to delete my account - I do not wish to be in any way associated with this moronic forum.

Verified! I received the same email. Your password was salted and hashed using sha256crypt with 7500 rounds.

This happened directly after trying some 'free' VPN service from keep solid, stacked social. I destroyed it in minutes because, it was not free and slowed my down from 56mbps to 16.

I have already noticed unusual activity since early this morning on my websites, over 600 before I started changing passes.

The pass used was brute force for 400 quadrillion years or one lucky guess.

Time to go!

So your account was hacked and now you recovered it? I am not sure why you created this thread in the first place, nor am I sure why many/any one want to do business with your account (without escrow) as it is a newbie account (read: very high risk account to deal with - when your account has a higher ranking then the risk will be lower)

Nothing to worry about. As the mail states the passwords were encrypted, as long as you change it you will be fine. Brute forcing it will take a while and I don't think they will try it on a newbie account anyway.

And another one bites the dust. Probably there wasn't anything worthy in there so the hacker took it up to trolling.

Must have been a rather weak password if its already cracked. Of course, thinking back on Gox, that does not shock me one bit.

Also received the email, but even without reading it fully, changing my password on every attack became my habit. Nothing to be worried about. The email was sent so as to lessen the risks of accounts getting compromised due to the recent attack.
