Title: IP compromised.
Post by: jack5 on May 26, 2015, 03:57:51 PM
What does this mean? Will it bring up some security concerns for me? I'm not very technical but I find it quite disturbing that they have our ips. Passwords and emails can be changed but ips cannot.

its nothing to worry about, anyone who knows your skype or to whom you've ever sent an email can see it, maybe if you have lots of enemies you'll get ddosed but thats about the worst that can happen

who told you ips cant be changed?

Depends on type of connection and company.  Some are dynamic and can be changed if you use a different MAC address.

Others are static IP's those cannot be changed by yourself.  If you contacted your ISP though they could change it, but it would take something from their side.

Personally I made sure routers did not have default passwords and also turned off telnet and such into my router for the moment. (Granted it is overkill most likely).

No one told him that IP can be changed ^^  ::) OP no it will not cause you any bother the attacker having the IP's, s/he 'they' have more important things to take care of like trying ti get as many accounts before passwords are changed, Hopefully it has been annoying and when they have got some they try gain access but the password already changed that would be good but obviously they will get a few. Nothing to worry about with them  busy bees knowing Ips' all they know is where you registered the account in question plus the last IP that was logged into said account.
