Hi,

I'm unable to delete my account from the profile page. Is there a way to do it?

Hi,

I'm unable to delete my account from the profile page. Is there a way to do it?

Due to the recent hack, a lot of people have been asking whether or not it's possible to delete their account and unfortunately, the answer to this question is almost always "no".

Here's what I posted in another thread:

for the moment, considering the fact that my account was compromised (according to an e-mail that you guys sent), i'd like my account completely erased please. Thank you. Please send an e-mail confirming of the deletion.

A list of email addresses and password hashes are presumed to have been stolen and deleting your account isn't going to change this (and that's assuming that it's even possible in the first place, which it isn't). If you have a weak password, then it could be cracked but changing your password to a different one should prevent this. Sure, the attacker won't be able to access your account anymore if it were completed deleted but simply changing your password for your account will accomplish the same thing.

Also, the attacker will still know your email address in addition to your password hash. If you used the same password for your email provider or any other sites then those could be cracked as well unless you changed their passwords too.

So basically, you should change your password for this site and all other sites which you used the same password in, and keep a closer eye on your email inbox since you could be seeing more spam in the coming days.

EDIT: With that being said, if you still want to delete your account then the closest thing that you can achieve to a complete deletion is to delete all of your posts (or at least the ones that are possible to delete), change your password to an impossibly long one, and walk away.

You registered this account in 2013, you don't need to delete it. Just post some posts and then gain your activity, after your rank is up. You can sell it :D

That's not how activity works. If you didn't make a post in each period you lose that activity regardless of sign-up date. The most op could get is 14.

That doesn't make any sense. It doesn't matter WHEN I created this account, if I want it deleted. Thanks anyway though.

Yeah I know how activity works, what I want to say is... You don't need to delete your account, at least rank up the account to Member or Full Member and then you could sell it and earn profit.
And I thought account that registered on 2013, more desirable.
