Title: Buying Bitcoins with Venmo [$295 max.]
Post by: meta-fizzy on May 28, 2015, 03:24:47 AM
A friend recently paid me back through Venmo, and i'd like to get rid of it for BTC. I don't have a bank account anymore to tie the account to. I have $295... i'm willing to do smaller transactions or the full amount at once, with or without escrow.

Contact me to discuss rates; i'm willing to go a little over market price for the BTC.

Just to be clear since I know there's scammers all over the internet, i'm completely comfortable using escrow. The only escrow service I know of, besides using a mutually trusted individual for escrow, is LocalBitcoins. I don't have an account yet, but i'd be happy to create one for the purpose of an escrow-locked trade.

you are dealing on THIS forum and expecting people to use escrow from ANOTHER platform?

there are free escrows here look for them. with very high trust scores.

devthedev is amongst one of them

I wasn't aware. I'm definitely willing to use a free escrow service, especially if it's in-house.

Localbitcoins escrow isn't a terrible option. If both parties have an account then it shouldn't be too much of a hassle to use their escrow.

However, there's also a list of reputable users who provide an escrow service for this forum, you can check out the list here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=108716.0

Some of the users on that list might not be active though. Some currently active escrows that I have personally used would be: monbux, Tomatocage, devthedev, and Maidak. You can pick from any of these people, they're highly trusted on this forum and would be able to help escrow the BTC for your deal.

Despite venmo being awesome, venmo is actually similar to paypal.

So that charge back is really possible, and screwing someone over w. the creditcard linked.

I was actually just taking a look at both yours' and dev's escrow services. If I get an offer, i'll probably end up going with one of you two unless the other party requests a different trusted escrow service.

Is that a common occurrence? I'd be willing to take a screenshot from my phone that lists the payment options I have available on that account (there are none; i've only received funds on it so far). I also have the money readily available in my account, so it wouldn't be necessary to charge an external account for the payment.
