Title: BitcoinTalk game
Post by: XinXan on May 28, 2015, 11:48:33 AM
Well recently i started creating a little game (for fun) based on this forum, basically you start as a newbie and you have to kill scammers and spammers to level up and gain new ranks. You can also fight various bosses like Dooglus:

https://i.imgur.com/e3sbjw7.png

You will encounter live bitcoins that want to kill you.

https://i.imgur.com/q0c28Mb.png

The game is still pretty alpha, i was just wondering if you guys would be interested in playing it, im having fun creating it so far.

And remember you can always become a bitcoin millionaire.

When can I pre-order? I'm extremely interested in being able to play this game for...ehm...educational and testing purposes...

Any alpha copies? ;)

Is my representation of dooglus accurate? I wasnt sure if i made him look good enough. He is not the only boss of course, you will be able to fight Vod, theymos and many others.
I wasnt sure if i wanted to make Quickseller a boss so instead i made him the merchant of the game.

Seems pretty damn accurate to me, but someone page dooglus for his opinion :) Fighting Vod? This is top quality stuff mate, you're going to make bank off the people who hate Vod ;)

Make sure you portray theymos as a thermos flask. That's important. Also make sure that Quickseller has a chained up scammer next to him. That'd be pretty sweet.

Interesting. I wonder what would people like QuickSeller and Vod think about this game. Will there support of play this game? Anyway, how much do I need to pay if I want to be one of the character inside the game?.

Damn the theymos idea is gold, i honestly didnt know how to portray him exactly but i will make sure to take in count your idea. Anyways about Quickseller.

This is the best i could come up with in a few minutes, it will be better later.

Make sure you add in a temping scam where if you take the pile of coins and get cought your rating turns red....... then have the option to work your way out of it by paying back the stolen coins or start a new game under a new user name...

THIS IS A GREAT IDEA...  this game concept would also make a good monopoly spin off board game....

Well since some of you seem interested in it and want to play it, as soon as i make the first few levels i will post a download link so you can try it and help me with ideas, improvements etc. the game is pretty much a platformer, its made with rpg maker vx in case anyone was wondering, im making the "artstyle" myself if you can call it art haha. But hey if someone wants to help a little with it he will be welcome.

Well its going to be coded in RGSS or Ruby, mostly because it is made in rpg maker vx as i said before, it will be a platformer sort of. I know it may not be the best program to make games but i like it and i have been using it for quite a good amount of time, if you have any other questions feel free to ask.

Well all leveles are inspired on each section of this forum. The difficulty of each one will depend on how many spammers and scammers are there, for instance the gambling level will be somewhat hard but the investor based games level would be way harder because of the amount of scammers there :D

Pd: the last boss is theymos but the final true boss is a surprise.

Well since most levels are not done yet, i could make some intelligence or logical based levels, maybe you have to avoid a scam or scam a scammer?? The more ideas the better. The general concept is a platformer/bullet hell kind of game.

You should try using GameMaker Studio. If you paid for the software, you will enjoy the benefit of exporting it into many type such as Flash, HTML5 and even .APK! Also, take a look at Stencyl.

You can expect a super alpha release really soon (3-4 days most likely) Just so you guys can try the game and tell me if you like the controls. If the jump is working correctly if you can dash correctly etc etc.

Im still looking for more ideas, more bosses, so far i have: Vod, Theymos, Dooglus, Stunna, Sir Bitcoin. all of them are bosses of the game. Any more ideas?

From time to time you will encounter several merchants that will offer you deals. You can always pick the option you want, you can risk it and maybe win a good amount of money or lose everything.

https://i.imgur.com/0U8R99q.png

I will implement another option later on, leave a negative trust rating.

Hahaha omg this idea is great! Can't wait for the release lol!! :D :D

So funny how even the escrow and collateral come in, and even the trust ratings, so how are you going to 'post' in the game and rank up?

Maybe you can implement PMs, or you can even change your avatar in game, and signature I guess :)

(that kill him option tho)

But there will be more, probably tomatocage aswell, quickseller is in the game already, he is the official merchant.
Maybe redsnow or dogie, known and famous scammers like tradefortress will probably be there aswell.

Here some pics of the fight

I will post a download link probably today, tomorrow if not. Its an extremely early alpha version so dont expect great things, you will have the option to increase your level whenever you want or to get full hp, for testing purposes.

Any bugs you encounter, report them here.

The super early alpha is here : https://www.mediafire.com/?ciq303zt92s9f6z

Note that this is super early and a lot of mistakes, bugs and whatnot will be there.

When you get to the level selection screen you can go on top to increase your level for testing purposes:

https://i.imgur.com/uTitnwL.png

There talk to the red ball.

The controls are: Z or ENTER to talk to NPCS
W to transform (not yet avaliable)
A to Attack
S to jump
D to dash

The only levels avaliable to play are: LVL 1 wich is on the first floor to the left
The only bosses to play are I and II, I being Sir Bitcoin and II being Dooglus

Everything you see right now is probably going to be changed in the future.

Have fun and yes i know the main character is a skeleton.

Just played the game ^^ Its cheating how you can add the levels yourself though xD, maxed out my HP 9999 :)

After fighting the second boss dooglus it seems no portals are created for me to exit. Now im stuck there for the rest of its life :P

Make the exp function work too, the main point of games! Great, but more sprites should be added too.

There is nothing to buy at the shop tho, looking forward to those :) Hope that you are still working on this!

Where is "Satoshi" ?  ;D ;D ;D

I like the concept.. How many trojans are built into the code to steal our passwords and our Bitcoins?  ::)  ;D ;D ;D

This is very funny stuff.. Have you found any feedback from any of the people you use in the game? They might soon be killing themselves.. that is even more funny.  ;D

Just don't start charging people for the game, when it becomes popular. Keep it FREE. You should build in a faucet or a sig campaign to fund the in-game equipment and weapons for the newbies.

Good luck... nice idea.

I dont think any of them have seen the game yet, the project development section doesnt have too many viewers, hopefully they like it :) Theres only one malicious code built into it intended to steal your whole house actually.

Satoshi its the final true boss but its a secret shh.

You can also fight various bosses like Dooglus

When can I pre-order? I'm extremely interested in being able to play this game for...ehm...educational and testing purposes...

Any alpha copies? ;)

Is my representation of dooglus accurate? I wasnt sure if i made him look good enough. He is not the only boss of course, you will be able to fight Vod, theymos and many others.
I wasnt sure if i wanted to make Quickseller a boss so instead i made him the merchant of the game.

For quickseller you need to also have him splitting out into many different anonymous alts.  :)

Looks like a fun game, I'll give it a whirl tomorrow, erm, I mean, when you release it.

I just checked and found out it's a Windows .exe file.  I guess there's two issues for me on that:

1) I don't run windows (GNU/Linux)
2) I almost never run precompiled binaries that don't also have source code available

So I'm guessing this isn't targeted at me :)  I had thought it was gonna run in a browser for some reason.  Let me know if you ever make a cross-platform version.

Cheers and good luck!

Unfortunately its made on rpg maker vx and it will be hard to make it avaliable on linux but not impossible although its not going to happen soon but maybe in the future
