Title: Are there any wallets for Windows Phone?
Post by: twister on May 29, 2015, 12:55:29 PM
I checked the https://bitcoin.org/en/choose-your-wallet but the only wallets available for mobile are for 'Android' 'iOS' and 'BlackBerry'  :-\

Are there any BTCtc wallets compatible for windows phone?

Still in beta mode, Copay was initially developed for BitPay’s internal use

It looks nice though and it is Multisig, will give a shot. Thanks  :)

Email registration. I hate email registration for a Bitcoin/altcoin wallet. :-\

Ok but apart from that, is it ok? Does it works like a normal desktop wallet like electrum or are there other things I should know about?

Where can I get more help on copay? It's working fine but even the personal wallet has the address starting from 3 which is odd, there is no way to import keys into it and I want to know what happens if for some reason the app is down, how do one extract the keys out of the back up file which is really long.

And everytime I spent an input, there is a new address generated and the change is moved to there but does that mean one needs to take backup everytime after spending? Or else how will the new generated address key will get added to backup?

Also, why is it when you open blockchain.info in a mobile broswer there is no option of importing keys??

I'm a wp8 sad case too. I looked at copay but the warnings about it being very beta and potentially eating your coins did not inspire me. On checking the store again it seems those warnings have subsided.

There is another paid wallet on there now by Kronolabs but most reviews still mention it being testnet only. As it's paid now it must be a full fat one. The lack of app reviews is pretty shocking.

I don't think I'll bother until an established wallet appears.

You can either backup locally by saving backup plain text code and password or by saving into cloud(depreciated). You can't import address into wallet because you can't recover imported addresses from backup text.

And everytime I spent an input, there is a new address generated and the change is moved to there but does that mean one needs to take backup everytime after spending? Or else how will the new generated address key will get added to backup?

You only need to backup the text once. It is a mnemonic seed. See https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Deterministic_wallet

Also, why is it when you open blockchain.info in a mobile broswer there is no option of importing keys??

For some reasons, they have disabled it. Maybe, they haven't got a good UI.

The warning is still there in terms and conditions, it needs so much more features, although it is working good as it is but I don't want to send a large amount of funds to it until I figure out how the keys work and will I be able to recover my funds from the back up in an another wallet.

Tell me more MZ I am lost, will I be able to use that mnemonic elsewhere in some other wallet and use my funds for when the app is not working?? How to do that?

I did took a backup and put it somewhere safe but I have no idea how to extract my keys from it.

Yes, this is really odd, blockchain.info wallet has no import feature on mobile and also when you use it as block explorer for checking the balance of any address, it doesn't shows the sender's address, not even in Tx.

What's the best way to import a paper wallet in a windows phone to use it's funds??

They are claiming it is an HD wallet, so yes but I haven't tried it. I will try it and will tell you.

True. Because of that and some other reasons, I have moved to BlockTrail.com.

What's the best way to import a paper wallet in a windows phone to use it's funds??

I would suggest you to download coinb.in in your phone and whenever you want to spend BTC from paper wallet, open it locally.

It's only $5 I would give this a shot if only it has a paper wallet import feature, which I doubt it does. But I can try without buying so I'll see for myself. Thanks :)

Ok, I will wait for you to tell me how to use that backup in another wallet before sending any big funds to it. I don't know much about coinb.in and how it works but I'll try it and report back how it went. Thx :)

Note that coinb.in uses funds that you don't use as transaction fee. So you will have to manually add change address. If you use one address all the time, copy-paste the address you are sending Bitcoins from in recipient's field and input an amount after decreasing transaction fee.

Ok, I will remember that, will try some small transactions to see how it goes, I have never used it, not even on pc and still thinking about how should I use it locally on the phone.  :-\

Edit: got it on pc, how to import keys from a paper wallet?

I've also been using copay wallet in my windows phone. Till now everything is fine and I don't think addresses starting from 3 should be a problem. You can just copy the backup to you clipboard(there is an option for it), and then you can create a document in your drive and paste and save it over there.
And yes, I guess you need to backup everytime(or maybe its possible that the backup already contains the private keys for the address that are to be created in future, bitcoind does that on Linux), but its always advisable to backup on a regular basis.

And all mobile sites have certain limitations, and so does blockchain's mobile site has.

There is a camera button at left side if you want to scan a paper wallet.

Use any of the wallets: Multibit, Bither, GreenAddress & Electrum.

Copay on Windows Phone just got a major update. It might be worth investigating further.

Is there a service where a user can enter bunch of addresses and payments respectively and then you'd get one address where you have to send the whole amount with the Tx fee and it would get auto forwarded to all the other addresses?

Like, you set up

Send X - 0.01
Send Y - 0.03
Send Z - 0.05

And the service provides you an address "14654dsf654d65f4" and the amount you need to send, 0.01+0.03+0.05+0.0001(Tx Fee)= 0.0901

And as soon as the above address sees the Tx with that amount it auto sends the respective amounts to the addresses?

Because one of the biggest problem I am facing with CoPay (when I am from my pc) is when I need to send payments to bunch of address I have to do it one at a time and it's time consuming and waste of Tx Fees.

Why don't you use Electrum when you are on PC?

For splitting, you can use https://coinsplit.io/ or https://coinkite.com/accounts/send.forwarding(similar feature).

I do that if I am able to use the PC but due to some arrangements I have to travel a lot these days and I can't even carry my laptop with me at those trips and sometimes I find myself in need of placing bunch of bets on sports events and the only thing I have with me to do that is my phone and copay and it's difficult to put them one after the another.

I'll try your suggestions. Thx

OK.. I created a wallet at coinsplit and created shares and it's showing me the wallet address, so do I just send the total amount with the fee and it will get auto forwarded to the addresses I listed in shares ?

Yes. I suggest you to try it now with a small amount. If you don't like it, try Coinkite.

Ok just sent 2 mbtc to it, it shows unconfirmed, so I guess maybe it will wait for a confirmation before forwarding them or it won't and I lose my 2 mbtc lol.

Edit: 2 3 confirm already, the coins haven't moved  :-\
what should I do MZ?

Edit2: Never mind it's done, this is neat, I like it. Thx
