With bitcoin struggling to gain mainstream approval, many cryptocurrency firms have created campaigns to make the public aware of their services.

Payments processor BitPay famously sponsored a college football game called The Bitcoin Bowl; though the company later abandoned its deal with ESPN when it didn't draw as much attention to the cryptocurrency as expected. Digital currency enthusiasts similarly blanket the web with blog posts and articles explaining the cryptocurrency's benefits, but one group of bitcoin fans have taken promotion to the next level with sexually-themed YouTube videos.

Sex Sells

"Mr. Anonymous" and the "Wet T-Shirt Girls" are a group of three online personalities who have made it their mission to promote bitcoin in what is arguably the creepiest way possible.

Mr. Anonymous, a man in a Guy Fawkes mask, and his two bikini clad sidekicks make videos for the Google Inc GOOG GOOGL (http://www.benzinga.com/stock/goog#NASDAQ) website in order to raise awareness for the cryptocurrency. The videos depict the women doing things like getting doused with water and spanking each other with printouts of the bitcoin symbol paper-clipped to their bikinis.

Confusing Message

In an interview with Vice's Motherboard (http://motherboard.vice.com/read/meet-mr-anonymous-and-the-wet-t-shirt-girls?utm_source=mbtwitter), Mr. Anonymous tried to lay out the group's overarching message, though his twisted answers left much to the imagination. The group, he said, wants to "get the message out there in a fun way." When asked about his opinion of bitcoin, Mr. Anonymous said he believes the cryptocurrency is "an opportunity for mankind to do good deeds."

Donations Welcome

For viewers who enjoy Mr. Anonymous' videos, a QR code at the end allows them to make donations. The group says they will use the funds to create more bitcoin promotion videos, though so far their donations total just $20. If the group is able to raise more money, Mr. Anonymous says they will create the "ultimate video" - one in which they are "shooting machine guns, shooting dollar bills, and doing some wet T-shirt action in the jungle, or a river."

Sex sells to an extent, consider that sex sells a lot of times with food since it connects to a carnal instinct of survival. yes it is a strong instinct to appeal to but it is only good for more materialistic things we don't necessarily need to survive like chinese plastics, couches, and jewelry, etc, not digital currencies. It just doesn't blend well necessarily in this circumstance.
The mainstream adoption of bitcoin if you end up selling it connected to this desire will completely devastate any intellectual properties. I do certainly appreciate the effort but anyone marketing for huge gains but doesn't necessarily start by adopting sex into any aspect for donation or backbone. That potentially interfaces bitcoin with a majority of supporters that more than likely are fickle supporters that mindlessly consume. Take also into account the people you want investing truly don't want to be looked at scandalously, which is a possibility in this particular circumstance.

That is simply my humble opinion on this

This is what viewers expect to see in their routine life, I mean SEX, let it take in any shape, any views or real. Any Business will easily win with the interception of SEX with right planning in their environment, although it will not run for long time, but they will achieve their needs in short term investments with the interception of SEX, Sex is so powerful tool that will certainly have big impact in any business let it even Bitcoins. However I do not agree with such filthy interception in this Business, but sadly this is what everyone desires.

i doubt that sex would gain mainstream approval. but it is a good way to increase the popularity of bitcoin.

because you can find porn everywhere already, also porn is a bit boring nowadays, always the same thing, you need to do somethign a bit original, but it is not an easy task in that environment

if you really want bitcoin and porn to succeed , bitcoin should be integrated in some famous site like pornhub, but they adopted something called "titicoin" apparently

Question : Are we building a groundbreaking shift in technology or are we feeding and growing the sex industry? 

Despite all these huge numbers and great income pornography can bring this area of business is still viewed as not exactly 'clean'. Talking about porno is still considered a taboo and something people are not willing to do in public. Why do you think linking bitcoin, which reputation is tarnished already, with pornography will bring any good? Of course people are gonna notice it, but again, they will think that bitcoin is only good as method of payment for porn.

I don't know that these tactics will help Bitcoin get into mainstream, these look more to me like done for their personal gain, rather then to help BTC.

Hopefully bitcoiners are smart enough to not to fall for these stupid gimmics, "donate me, I'll make more sex compilations and spring break titty flash videos and it will help bitcoin" Yeah right?

when we can see porn websites start accepting bitcoin as another way of payment method in their sign ups or whatever, then it can be called helping bitcoin popularity.
a couple of chicks flashing and then asking for bitcoin, is not the way. it is so small and in most cases scam that it is not going to help anything.

I am not sure how effective this will be at promoting bitcoins and cryptos but what the heck you can't go wrong with wet boobs.  This "promotion" seems to be on the fence of mainstream promotion and the shady crap that bitcoin is known for.

but, people weren't doing anything to get little satoshi, mBTC or uBTC back when it was skyrocketing, what is going to change in the future?

the story will repeat itself, think about the fact that when bitcoin started to rise, everyone was doing everything to even earn 1 little btc, when 1 btc will be worth 100k or 1M(a bit too optimistic but certainly not impossible), everyone will do everything just for 100 satoshi

A general part of the business does not really need to rely on the general population and what they desire (as a matter of fact they are pretty mindless, for Pete's sake they find it necessary to spend money toys and pool covers), you just need the few in business who actually know what they are doing, was really the point of that post, there are so many better marketing strategies that could be approached. You should market to the people, but market first to the investors who actually can do something about the truly concrete economical approach with the product instead of marketing it similar to what a pimp does with his business in the ghetto. 

Also take into consideration that when Carl's Jr. markets its products to people who actually know what the product is and how to get involved with it.
If you take the approach that is being made with the girls here you don't really get to the point of bitcoin.
Things like youtube's World Bitcoin Channel actually educate people who use it and give them simple sense of how to use a currency, as a matter of fact for something like this education is key to get your market for this particular product.
Much like writing an essay, you want to hook people into this business getting simple questions to tingle into the back of their minds to get them to go deeper. People love to get nosey. 
Sex is honestly better with a physical product and plays really no stipulative role to this. I do agree when you use the market of sex correctly you get the best possible outcome.
Here it is not being used correctly and simply plays and is not symbiotic role in truly getting people excited about it. All you get is bewb drooling.

Do we really need this? Bitcoin is a financial instrument. If we want to promote this we don't need tits or a$$es. We should show the world that instrument is 1) very high quality for consuming 2) very good choice for long term investments 3) very secure for holding as asset.

I think, people would do anything to get cash. They need bitcoin because it can exchange to the fiat. So, the main point is not bitcoin, but something that can buy any stuff for their life. If you can buy your stuff with a tree leaf, so you would do anything to get the leaf. The bitcoin just a medium for them to get cash. And I'm not sure people would do anything for just 1 satoshi, it sounds ridiculous.

i think the subreddit of /r/GirlsGoneBitcoin is far more active and even effective rather than this youtube channel that only has a couple of not so interesting videos.
it has a kind of gone wild thing going on and everyone can participate and get paid (tipped) in bitcoin.
